It’s looking really good already Alan . I do like the pallet you have used so warm looking .

Really well done with excellent colour pallet .

Beautiful piece Alan, really like the silhouette of the windmill against that lovely glowing sky.

Lovely Alan and a great palette.

Very atmospheric, Alan and I like your rich palette. Great composition!

Great atmosphere The windmill stands out in this explosion of color Nice

Beautiful, you can see the linen like texture coming through which is nice. Beautiful atmosphere also!

I do like the texture of the grain on the paper Alan, it does have the look of linen. Did you use a turpsy coloured ground? If yes it’s given it a lovely glow. The whole painting has a brooding and mysterious feel, as the marshes have at times.

It's the colour that always gets me in your paintings - obviously, colour without good composition won't help us much, but dammit!, you've got that worked out too. In this state, or worked up (I'd like to see that, if you do get around to it) this'll be another Bickley Triumph. Do I see Terra Rose in there, I wonder - I certainly see strong application of paint and - especially in the sky - excellent work with brush or finger to achieve a very atmospheric graduation.

Thanks guys much appreciated as always… it could very likely be terra rose amongst this lot Robert, I squeezed out about half a dozen earth colours plus cobalt blue… not forgetting a touch of lead white! The graduation was achieved with kitchen roll, plenty of scrubbing off as I wanted a fairly transparent look to the sky!

Looking good!

A very solid and well painted composition Alan has a lovely charm to it. Love the limited palette too.

Good glow, good composition ☺️✔️

Super painting as always Alan- it has a Turneresque quality to it, and really like the limited palette which gives it great colour harmony.

Splendid, love the sky.

Atmospheric Alan. Great colours again

Glad you liked the art board Alan - and a very nice result

Thanks again everyone… yes Richard, well pleased with it, thanks!

It glows Alan - I really enjoy your technique and your use oil bars.

I love the "looking into that lovely light" aspect.

Beautiful!

I’ve worked up this simple oil sketch using reference from a previous etching that I did some time ago now. I say simple, because apart from a loosely dropped in windmill, the remaining composition consists of a few grasses and willows. My first oil for a while, and it’s painted using a very limited palette, on A3 Daler Rowney Artboard. It has quite a fine almost linen like surface, I like it. I’ve also added a few touches using my R&F oil bars… it probably needs another session to finish it off…
