A stunner Alan, the colours are wonderful

I wonder how many of us would dare to put trees right in front of your eyes like this Alan, but with your painting they are so lightly painted and not overpowering it works beautifully. Another one of your great landscapes.

Sumptuous blue shadows, reddish building in the hot spot, diminishing contrast in the distance, variety of mark making, warmth in the sky. What is there not to like? Super painting Alan. Beats the Baroque church in Valetta in my view.

Beautiful Alan, a clever recession of the soft colours.

Terrific work again.

Stunning. The variety of colours in the snow is glorious

Super painting Alan.

Again a great scenery, Alan. I immediately recognised it as one of yours in your typical 'Bickley'-style. Super!

I love the trees at the front and the colours in the snow are just beautiful.

Beautiful, Alan.

The balance of the colours in the foreground and far out into the distance where the hills are set below the icy sky, and that hint of pink does look amazing!

Wonderful contrast in colour.

You have a way with colour and composition Alan. Another excellent painting.

Love the strip of light across the middle

This flows with the landscape so rhythmically and is a very appealing snowscape but I long for the warmer scenes so much, after this dark, dismal winter Alan.

Another superlative piece, Alan! This painting really conveys atmosphere in spades. Really stunning work!

Stunning, the soft colours are wonderful

Stunning piece of work by any standard!

Great sense of looking beyond into the distance.

You do snow great Alan beautiful

Another stunning snowscape Alan.

Such a beautiful quiet softness to this Alan and I love the way you have painted the foreground trees.....a few scrubs of the brush and a flick here and there!

Beautiful snowscape Alan, love those warm patches of colour.

Love the foreground trees - inspiring!

Excellent snow scene Alan, very atmospheric!

Love this Alan, great distance effects for the vibrant foreground.

A lovely warm snow scene

What great compliments, I’m really pleased that you liked this one, thank you all.

I can only agree with everyone's comments Alan

Superb Alan! Everything is just right!

Beautiful, like the contrast of the trees in the foreground and the distant fields.

Great sense of distance - your choice of tone, brushwork and colour make this painting really stand out Alan - superb!

I came across a small watercolour that I’d painted plein air a few years ago, so just had to have a go at it in oils and on a larger scale. This amazing vista is on the Sandon private estate, the Blackhills looming in the far distance. The group of old brick barns and sheep shelters helped to balance the composition, as well as add a touch of colour.
