Really love it full of energy and zing

Glad to see you back, good work

Thank you so much Jenny and Kirstie for such lovely encouragement - it is so nice to have some feedback after such a long dry period of not posting.

Thank you Tony - so very kind of you.

Elementary my dear Thea!

I once knew a Thea....oh! It' s you! ( ha ha ). Lovely to see you back! We're all still here, plus more lovely artists. This is very accomplished and very easy to know who. Look forward to seeing more of your work Thea.

Mr Cumberbatch. To the very life. And welcome back.

Ah Thea - great painting as always but commenting just as much to welcome you back - I for one have really missed you and so pleased to see your name back where it belongs.

I knew it was one of yours straightaway (and who it is of). Excellent as always and welcome back.

Good to see you posting again with lovely fresh work.

Welcome back Thea, I did wonder what had happened to you along with many others... Good lively sketch as well, started I believe by the very talented Louise who still contributes on a regular basis. No good on recognising faces so I'll pass on that one.

Welcome back Thea beautiful work

Recognized your washes straight away, Thea, just couldn't believe my eyes. No idea who he is, but he has a presence all of his own thanks to your interpretation. Hope to see more, welcome back !

Spot on, Stephen & Robert - thank you! Also thank you very much Majorie, Michael and Gudrun - so nice to hear from old friends again and thank you for such lovely comments.

Thank you very much Teresa, Dennis and Sharon for such welcoming and encouraging comments. Also, thank you Alan - I had a break from posting (and indeed from art) for personal reasons, but I felt I really had to get properly back into my art again - hence today's posting. P.S. It was actually me who started the one liner challenge for some Christmas fun last year, but you are right that Louise, who took up the challenge straight away, has continued to do some stunning one liner work. I will have a job to keep up with her now!

So good to see you back dear Thea with this lovely portrait! The old gang is complete again and we have so many lovely new members too. Welcome back!

Thank you, Satu! I have missed everyone so it is lovely to hear from the old gang again - I wasn't sure if anyone would remember me so I am touched by so many welcoming comments. I also look forward to getting to know all the newer members as well.

Well it isn't Watson! Excellent painting , Thea. You have been missed!

I know the face well; it is perfectly portrayed, but the name escapes me.......Give me a clue!!! Good to see your work again, Thea! x

Lovely to see you back Thea, and posting your usual excellent standard of one-liners.

Thank you so much Linda, Ruth and Fiona for such a nice welcome back and lovely comments. I will get around to tracking back and seeing what you have all been doing in my absence, but it might take a while as a year is a long time to have been away.

What a lovely surprise to see you back Thea. It's always a pleasure to see your paintings on here.

Thank you so much, Sarah - so kind of you and I appreciate your lovely welcome and comments. I haven't done that much painting over the last year but am hoping that a return to POL will kick start me into producing a bit more work. I am not too well at the moment, so it may take a bit of time, but I will get there!

What a surprise and pleasure to see you back, Thea. Lovely one-liner in your typical style, love it!!

Thank you very much, Mia. How are you? Nice to hear from you too!

Yes I know who it is, welcome back Thea . X

Lovely to see your work again, Thea - I immediately recognised your distinctive style!

Super portrait and welcome back Thea

The hat gives it away Thea. Good to see you back.

Hey up trouble's back. LOL. Good to see you again Thea. Not a fan of this bloke but definitely a fan of your lovely pieces.

Instantly recognisable Thea - both actor and your work. Welcome back!

Thank you so much Carole, Russell, Sylvia (well guessed!), Derek (trouble - no - I'm a pussycat!), and Frank for your lovely and very welcoming comments.

Well, what a lovely surprise and I'm delighted to see you back Thea and with one of your good oneliners! There's no mistaking who he is and a very good drawing it is too. I think I speak for quite a few pol users when I say you've been greatly missed. The site hasn't felt to be quite so much fun or as interesting to me without your input. I say that because your ideas and challenges never fail to send me off in a different direction. Try different subjects and techniques which is a good thing for me as I always like to try something different as you'll have guessed. You see, you can be inspirational. Best add the word 'sometimes' now otherwise all this might go to your head ..LOL. Seriously, I am delighted you're here after all this time (can't believe it's been a year) and now, hopefully you'll start some more challenges for us to try out. Welcome back and keep painting and posting :)

Welcome back Thea and the chap is instantly recognisable and this has the great Charles Reid style of work all over it

Thank you so much, Louise, for those very kind, supportive and encouraging words. You played a big part in me regaining the confidence to start posting again - so thank you for doing that for me. As for challenges, I have done a couple of things that are different in the last year, but I have yet to come up with another new challenge for myself - but, I'm on the case!

Thank you, Dermot, very kind of you to leave such a nice comment. Yes, I still love Charles Reid!

I haven't posted anything for over a year, but I feel ready to start again, so am taking the plunge with this one liner. For those who weren't around when a lot of us were experimenting with this method of drawing at the end of last year, the drawing is done in a continuous line without looking at the reference until the drawing is finished. The wash is added later (looking of course for this stage!). Just a bit of fun to see if anyone can recognise who it is.

About the Artist
Thea Cable

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
