Lovely work Thea so well drawn well done .

Thank you Dennis. I don't know why the enlarged image looks so grainy and coarse? I do find these very big images on the gallery now don't always make a painting look better!

Well Thea, after much waiting and anticipation here it is! and it's a little beauty. A clever idea which works and I did say that you're attempt would be a lot neater than my effort, and I was right. That white car is great also...

Hope his handbrake holds Thea! Beautifully painted as always.

Thank you, Alan and Carole - lovely comments. Oh, Alan - I wish you hadn't said 'neat' as I am cursed by wanting to tidy everything up and I should allow myself to be much more free, like you are. In my heart my paintings are wild, colourful and under defined, but by the time my head gets involved it all changes. I do like what I have done here up to a point but I think your version had so much more passion than mine.

I think this works very well Thea and your style comes through, the tone on the edges of the outer houses draws our eyes to the central one.

So good and accomplished as always Thea, don't see the LP only the Artist, but they obviously do some good challenges.

Thank you Stephen and Dennis - I was hoping that leaving the main house white would work and I am pleased that you think it has. It's always difficult to decide which passages should remain unpainted and you can't get it wrong as recovering the white with watercolour is just not an option!

Beautiful Thea....it shines!

This is a most wonderful drawing Thea! I haven't seen the LP because I'm not at home but I have seen some of the entries and this must be the best of them. I know that you don't like neat and tidy but it works here ( sorry!). The whiteness of the car and the house makes it special and different. Well done!

I think your interpretation of the LP project is wonderful Thea! It is so very well drawn and the balance of colour and white areas is just right.

Great work as usual Thea, with your lovely crystal clear washes. I think the white house works so well because your drawing is spot on - both loose and detailed if you know what I mean, but also in proportion.

Lovely work Thea, your method of leaving the building white really works for me.

Thank you so much Fiona, Satu, Glennis, Christine, Gudrun, Dennis, Sharon and Val - such lovely and diverse comments - all super to receive and interesting to read.

Lovely fresh feel to this less is certainly more in my opinion!

Clever shading has made this narrow house stand out well - lovely work Thea.

It's certainly very effective, Thea. Love the jewel-like hues, the tints on the plants and the linework. It's super!

Your style is always so refrseshing Thea. Restrained use of colour and plenty left for our imagination; it's lovely.

It's fresh and it shines - great work Thea

I thought I'd have a go at this one as I have seen a few versions now on the gallery and I wanted to see what I could do with it. I decided to go for a different approach and leave the subject house largely unpainted and only apply colour to the neighbouring ones and the car. I hoped this would focus attention on the main house as white does tend to draw the eye.

About the Artist
Thea Cable

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
