Beach ride

This looks great. You've done a lovely job of capturing the horses and riders - specially their reflections in the wet sand.

Caught well, I always love watching horses on the beach.

That's a lovely picture.

A beautiful watercolour with fantastic detail and superb reflections. Brilliant Paul.

You've married the watercolour and gouache very successfully - horses are difficult little horrors to paint: as for tackling three of them - well done: blowed if I would! Yes, gouache is extremely interesting as a medium - I haven't used it much, I suppose because I usually find acrylic or oil suit my needs, but it's excellent for animal and bird studies (just make surey you've got the lightfast paints). Looking forward to seeing more of your gouache exercises.

Excellent painting.

A super painting Paul.

Great job here, these aren’t easy!

This is fabulous and your reflections are wonderful

Superb painting Paul, as said horses aren’t the easiest of animals to paint but you certainly have the knack .

Your experiment has worked really well. Lovely painting.

A lovely scene with fantastic reflections Paul. I admire your skilful figure work and harmonious palette.

Lovely work Paul. Full of life and movement and the reflections are top class.

Great job, very well done indeed!

A difficult subject and you've done it justice. Great job on the water and reflections.

Small painting of horses and riders on an Anglesey beach. The background is watercolour, the horses and foreground were completed with gouache. The painting was an experiment with gouache as I haven’t used it before; quite an interesting medium to use I will definitely spend some more time practicing with it.
