This is really good and it’s well painted, your certainly on a run today young Robert .

I’ve got the real manganese Violet but not the blue… It’s a brave (or foolish) man that attempts so many greens in a painting - I do believe you’ve got it somewhere near, although I would have introduced some areas of really dark blue/greens. I’m thinking contrast here, and made that strip of sunlight even lighter!

Well composed, with lovely brushwork. A lovely piece, Robert.

I like this Robert. I can imagine walking through there.

Alan - yes: I didn't use any Lemon Yellow, and that would have helped with the light-struck area. I may do it again but didn't want to fiddle with it: sometimes wise; sometimes not.

Actually, come to think of it - why not have a fiddle? I'm not so sure I felt this was finished anyway, so perhaps a bit of deep blue and a brighter light..... hmm. I shall ponder. On the whole though, more likely to do another version, I think.

Isn't this the one you set a challenge with? It's lovely.

It's great Robert, those greens all work really well

Reminds me of our lovely Spring walks with the pungent smell. Beautifully painted Robert.

A lovely tranquil scene Robert.

A wonderful painting, Robert, I can see how a bit more contrast would work as Alan has mentioned.

Sylvia - just noticed your question; but - I've forgotten! I think it was though, yes. I have since strengthened the highlight, and added some darks and some lights in the foliage: I've also glazed part of the foreground, but on the whole I'm reasonably happy to let it go now. I suppose I could say, which would be true, that there wasn't a lot of tonal contrast in the actual scene, because the trees cast muted shade (and this one was photographed and sketched on the spot). Even so - excuses, excuses.

Beautiful painting Robert

Really like this Robert, very appropriate for here as we're going into spring. Lots of lovely fresh greens.

Oil on board, 16" by 12", using Cremnitz White, Flemish White, Mars Brown, Pthalo Green, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Yellow Ochre, Manganese Blue Deep. Did this one to put my Manganese Blue through its paces - the real pigment, back at last.
