This painting looks so lovely and fresh.

These quick twiggy things work so well. A little delight Michael.

The Wesson style twigs painted with a twig are well done. Actually I like this new style you are adopting. Do you use Indian ink. I found it took too long to dry and followed Alan Owen's advice and changed to black acrylic ink.

Super work, Michael! Spontaneous and atmospheric.

Ta all. Alan - I use Indian Ink - might give acrylic a go but I rather fear that it will not flow in the same way as ink.

A super little sketch full of atmosphere.

This is lovely and loose Michael and something of a departure for you. I think you should "stick" at this new style!

Thanks all. Alan and Frank - not sure why you think this is a new style for me - I have posted several along these lines over the last three years or so but it's not so commercially successful so I tend to use it as break to my usual work for my own enjoyment.

I love these 'twig & wash' paintings of yours Michael, they have always been my favourite. You do them so well.

May not be so easy to sell but it is art! As an early tutor said to me "paint for yourself, not for other people".

I think this is one of your best, Michael. Great dynamic lines (and I take your point about the blobs of ink, which is why I chicken out and use a fineliner!) and a lovely light touch with the washes.

Glad I found this Michael, it's great!

Lots of life and freedom in this one Michael.

Hello Michael I like your gallery very much . I am particularly drawn to this though I love line and wash and I really like this . I think this is the way to go ;Edward Wesson did some nice line and wash and john hoar I guess you are already familiar with these artists if not they are worth a look . Any way Michael nice work .

Do enjoy the freedom of drawing with a twig and ink - the only trouble is that as the ink tends to blob you have to wait some time for it to dry - in this case overnight - before you can add the washes. Central tree is a bit garish (didn't twig it till I saw it on screen if you'll excuse the pun) but otherwise I think it was worth the effort. Overall this took about half an hour. Hope you like it.
