Thanks Donna and Tania - your kind words are much appreciated.

This is very different Michael, lovely blues but perhaps you can tell me what a crocius is exactly? I may be dim but can't find it in the dictionary!

Nicely done, as with all your other abstracts so far.

Ah Margaret - it's simply the title of the painting. I've posted quite a lot of abstracts mostly in acrylic ink and for each one I 'invent' a title which has no meaning in the English language. As an abstract it isn't meant to represent anything except in the viewers own individual mind. The title is merely there to identify the work and I have great fun in thinking up new words. One of the great things about an abstract is leaving the viewer to interpret it as they wish and nearly everyone will interpret it differently - in fact it's quite fun seeing what others make of it. When someone views one of my abstracts I don't want to influence them in their thinking process - I want then to interpret it unencumbered by my own thoughts. For example if I had called this one 'Road through the Floods' that's all you would see when viewing it and you would then be questioning it against the title - 'doesn't look like that to me!' - and you would move on. interested to know how you would interpret it - what do you think of when viewing it (if you can get 'road through the floods out of your mind that is) Hope this all makes sense.

Cheers Ivan for your kind words

Interesting and very different. It'll look very smart in it's frame.

Wasn't going to comment on this Michael, because I don't understand abstracts but as you mentioned that you like hearing interpretations, here goes. I absolutely love the colours and reflections. My first and only thought was that this was a tyre track! Am I daft, or can anyone else see that.

Thanks Louise and Adele - a tyre track - well could easily be.

It's a car windscreen in driving rain with a chip out of the rubber blade on the wiper.....do I get a prize? lol Love the colours and the verticals against the horizontals bush strokes, gives it balance.

Thanks for your explanation Michael, I thought I was going nuts when I couldn't find it in the dictionary, then I thought perhaps it was an arty thing that I hadn't heard of! I'm still learning!! My first impression was similar to Adele's, a tyre, but looking at it again it seems like a spinning top, it's sort of mesmerising when you study it. I don't know anything about abstract and I'm not usually drawn to them but the colours in this are beautiful.

Thanks Fiona and Margaret - these are such fun to paint - and of course you don't need to know anything about abstracts - I simply think of them as being a pattern that appeals to the senses - people like abstract patterns in wallpaper, dresses, etc so what's the difference if you put a frame around them.

Beautiful invention both in painting and in word, Michael. I thought like Adele, but I can see also an edge of a blue glass or bottle.

My interpretation of this is outer space and shooting stars. I love your abstracts Michael, they make me think.

Latest Arylic, 16 by 14 on mountboard - sorry about the reflections from the white in the photo but couldn't seem to get rid of it - will be framed in a plain silver frame with a black edge which looks quite stylish and which I am using for nearly all my work (works well with watercolours)
