Well with the price of gold Michael this must be worth a bob or two. I think it has worked well. Soaring into a golden sky.

Love using gold leaf, adds real luxury Michael. Like your calligraphic mark.

Nice and clean, the way it should be.

What a lovely idea and a super image, never tried it but certainly worth a go. I don't think my work is delicate enough mind you. Love the simple way that it's been mounted.

I love your simple line drawings Michael and the gold leaf makes this one extra special.

Perfect foil for your simple line drawing Michael!

Very interesting study and it works well. I've no idea about the long-term survival of the piece: even if you told me if it was ink, watercolour, or acrylic, I still don't think I'd know - I've never worked on gold-leaf. But for so long as it does last (and thanks to the wonders of the internet, in a sense it always will) it's an arresting and effective image and I applaud your inventiveness and willingness to explore the boundaries and beyond.

Very chic image Michael, great idea.

I begged a few sheets from a coleague who uses gold leaf in his colage work just to try out - having been so well received by you all (thanks so much for your encouragement) I might look into buying some and try a few more pieces. These line drawings (well that's what I call them) have proved popular and as some you will be aware they are usually float mounted with either a black or a white frame. In fact I sold one only today at a local exhibition in Gumley so perhaps this could be a new direction for this kind of work. This particular drawing was very much based on the work of the Canadian artist Bernard Chee Chee who I greatly admire.

This is really effective and very elegant.

Magical Michael! I keep repeating what the others have already said but the pure simplicity of it is so effective and beautiful. I wonder what gave you the idea of using gold leaf and how did you dare to touch it !? But you did and it looks fantastic framed in white.

Simple and stylish , I like it

Beautiful simplicity - super !

Funny what each of us see in a painting Michael, looking at the thumbnail, I saw a needle and thread!

Wow, what a clever concept, and what a stunning shape and composition. Super work, Michael!

Another of my simple line drawings. this was done on gold leaf - I did have some difficulty drawing the image on the gold as it didn't take all that well, also the worry that it might flake off in time but it was fun giving it a go.
