Blots...I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention. (Dip pen and wash - A3)

Comments

Fabulously drawn (by whatever means!) and a laugh for the day, thanks Lewis.

Great stuff Lew, blots and all…

The smile of the day! Fantastic yet again, Lewis! Thanks! With or without blots I don't Care!!!

This really made me smile - I've been playing with my dip pen and I think you've captured exactly how I feel. The blotches and spatter come too easily for me!

Absolutely brilliant Lew, I think you have started everyone of with a smile today. Sounds like a few people are trying out dip pens again.

Great! That’s how I feel about. Charcoal.

Thanks to all for your great response, I know a lot of people use dip pens and probably wonder what the fuss is about. Linda you are right about charcoal, if I'd put a charcoal stick in his hand the message still rings true. I've tried charcoal pencils and still make a mess.

Apposite , Lewis , as I have spent most of a rainy day with sharpened matchstick in hand - OK , there was a brush as well when needed. I do know what he means !!!

So funny Lewis. Done brilliantly.

Aah, I’ve got the title tune in my head now, even more annoying I can’t place it! Brilliant drawing by the way, Lewis!

Really made me laugh, Lewis - thanks! Great drawing as always.

Ha ha, love it.

Katy, the title words were pinched from the song 'My Way', recorded by everybody, most notably Frank Sinatra.

So true about dip pens, plenty of character but messy. Excellent drawing.

Brilliant, Lewis! (I’ve not used dip pens for years, must try them again!)

Fantastic humour Lewis and in your wonderful, individual style that everyone enjoys so much.

‘My Way’ of course! Brain needs a defrag🤣

Lovely stuff Lew, and so skilfully done.

Brilliant daily laugh Lewis !

Oopps, that’s going to take some cleaning up Lewis! Great stuff.

It's the mapping pens which drop blots everywhere - if used with any speed; Steadman and Scarfe both used mapping pens, with their flexible, sharp, vulnerable nibs. I gave up on them when I inadvertently decorated myself with entirely indelible Indian ink (went everywhere: shirt ruined, face splattered and it wouldn't come out for days, paper ruined....). But they were fun! I still have a couple, now I come to think of it.....

Fabulous Lewis! Incredible drawing and great sense of fun.

What a great sense of humour and imagination you have Lewis, and of course superlative skill.

Brilliant Lewis. Made me smile on this grey midsummer day.

Hahaha 😄 Great!

Many years ago I used a dip pen, until I discovered modern fine-liners. I'd developed a false memory about dip pens...they blot...they splatter. Maybe a few did. On trying them again, I've struggled to blot. I had to fake this. (On the other hand, all this may be beloney...and this is exactly how they are.)
