Superbly painted Heather. Your work is always top class.

This is excellent Heather.

Brilliantly painted Heather as always, fabulous textures and a full smile too, so difficult to achieve but not for you!

Lovely work Heather. Great textures on the fur of the dog and that winning smile, quite a challenge.

Beautifully painted Heather.

Great dogs, and a great portrait of him/her and the owner and best friend. I have been sat on by a lurcher - this one looks like an Irish wolfhound, but there are several varieties of gurt big dog: I say sat on - I was sitting down, the dog just slightly bent his back legs and perched on my knee: I felt privileged! They're pure loyalty and affection, and are marvellous companions. The painting works very well indeed, however bad your photography skills may be, they can't be a fraction as bad as mine, and I also like the way you've dealt with the background, rendered the cloth of the woman's coat, the hair of the dog, the hair of the woman - and you've painted her teeth! Always a job to be avoided if you can, but you've pulled it off (off, not out: that would have been cruel). I do think you've painted this from a photograph - and I'd prefer a painting from life, but maybe that wasn't possible.

As usual another wonderful portrait Heather. I love the way you make the facial expression so natural and the background really suits it and makes it pop. The glasses on top of the head are a nice touch too and makes it another of your wonderful paintings!

I can see all the work that’s gone into this Heather - good to see your work again, excellent portraits.

Fantastic Heather!

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. Yes, Robert, you're right, this one was from a photograph as had no other option as it was a commission with photo supplied. However, I did invent a background and doctored a few things to make it work better. The dog is a shaggy and VERY big labradoodle.

They look great friends. Nicely captured

A beautiful pair and beautifully painted Heather.

What a beautiful fresh painting Heather.

Beautiful detail Heather and I love the painting.

Brilliant double-portrait, well done.

About the Artist
Heather Love

I started to paint in 2018 . I started with acrylics and now use only oils and mainly canvas on board. Most of my portraits are 38 cms x 60 cms or thereabouts. Am still on a big learning curve but really enjoying the process and discovering new techniques very step of the way! I go to art class…
