So interesting Fiona, lovely rendition of these old buildings. Good that they have been left alone!

I love drawing these sorts of things, not a straight line anywhere, great stuff F.

I can see the attraction for artists Fiona - lots of character and, let's face it, a bright palette would not make a true painting of the area.

Right colours for these old buildings, Fiona.

This is not a 'dour' palette, Fiona, it is as it is!! Love the sketching and the colours have portrayed the buildings well.

Looks like it's a hidden gem Fiona and you've immortalized it in this lovely watercolour.

It's funny Carole how the ruined and dilapidated cry out to be painted. Thank you for your comment. Alan, I couldn't draw a straight line even with the aid of a ruler....there's more character in a wiggly line, and in my case it hides a multitude of sins! Thank you. Yes, I quite agree about the palette Adele and Cesare, a bright palette wouldn't convey the atmosphere really. Thank you both for your feedback.

Thank you very much Jennifer and Val for your kind comments. I'm sure there are more hidden gems like this, I'll keep my eyes open next time I'm there!

Terrific Fiona. Dour? Never. It's alive with character. Love it.

Long live wiggly lines Fiona! Lovely spot!

That's terrific. Reminds me of Chris Petri's work. Someone who I admire a lot.

Good one Zfiona, good yo see you posting again.

Jim, thank you very much, and Dennis, you are too kind!

Amen to that Satu! Thank you Brian you are very generous, I am off to look up Chris Petra. Stephen, thank you very much.

nothing wrong with dour if it fits to the subject and you have sufficient "sparkle" here to negate "dour" Good one.

Another beauty Fiona lovely subject well painted

Very appealing subject, Fiona, lovely composition and colours.

Many thanks Helen, Mike, Dennis and Jenny for your positive feedback, much appreciated.

It's a super palette, Fiona. Lovely old buildings and so well painted.

a lovely study Fiona your technique is coming on in leaps and bounds your dour palette as you put it is full of life and energy but not dour

It would drag me there too Fiona. Lovely subject and well depicted

12x9 watercolour and ink, back to my usual dour palette. Old gas lane is off harbour square in Kirkcudbright, half way down is this ruined gable and garage, which also looks as if it has had it's day. It's a neglected corner in this small but smart town, which is a magnet for artists and has been for many years.
