A Stand of Beech

Comments

I really like the colour combinations you've used.

This is lovely Fiona, as Heather said great colour combination.

Thank you Heather, I can’t drag myself away from the orange and blue combination! David, thanks very much!

Well these winter trees are my favourite colour, I also like the way you’ve drawn in the foreground shrubbery. Whilst I like the turquoise, I wouldn’t have used it in the sky, it detracts slightly. Nice job though Fiona.

Works so well, Fiona - lovely colours. I must admit I love beech too but it does seem to be getting rooted out in places in Scotland by environmentalists who say it is not native - so we must enjoy them while we can!

Nice colour Fiona - the blue green particularly effective.

Many thanks Alan, Margaret and Shaun your comments are much appreciated.

Really like this one Fiona. The colours look good, especially the bright turquoise against the golden/orange beech trees. It has a fresh, warm feel to it. Good confident brush strokes as well.

Thanks for your comment Louise, it’s a bit of a change of direction this. Iced media but not sure if it’s working.

Mixed media, gouache, soft pastel and ink in sketchbook. A local stand of beech trees. The Queen of British trees, in Celtic mythology the oak was the king and Fagus was the God of beech trees, associated with femininity. Has medicinal properties as well as providing food and shelter to many rare species of wildlife.
