Very effective!!

Love looseness and the effects of this lovely painting Fiona .

Excellent trial Fiona.

Really dramatic - love it Fiona!

Love the way this conjures up so many images in my minds eye Fiona.

Reminds me of the weekend storm Fiona. Powerful mark making.

I've been meaning to try it out at some point, it looks very effective Fiona.

Lovely tonal effect Fiona, for this scene!

Thank you David, Paul, Stephen, Russell, Guy, Chris, John, Denise, Angela……appreciate your lovely comments. Denise, as I was using the liquid charcoal, I thought about how you could use it in portraiture.

That's interesting Fiona, have not heard of liquid charcoal but you've got some great effects with it.

Some interesting and dramatic effects, Fiona!

This is something I have to try - I've been wanting something I could use more freely than carbon pencils and charcoal, and you've got a very interesting and pleasingly splashy result which is rather appropriate for this time of year.

Interesting and dramatic.

Fantastic result Fiona!

Lovely loose image with great marks and wide tonal range

Yes, very effective

I’ve got the Nitram liquid charcoal in a tube, really expensive as well! I’m assuming that this is similar stuff… Not a bad starting point here, perhaps work on giving it a more dramatic sky, it’s all a bit tentative! That’s observation not criticism dear…

Super work Fiona. Your mark making is exceptional and I'm full of admiration for your beautiful creation.

Sarah, Anne, Robert, Sandra, John, Martin, Heather, Alan, George…..thank you all very much for your comments, always appreciated. Robert, do give them a go! Alan, the sky is meant to be restrained, I wanted the foreground to take the glory!

Thank you ladies, lovely to get your feedback.

Very effective, Fiona.

Many thanks Jenny.

Absolutely stunning Fiona

Thank you very much Rachel, Spencer, Maureen.

Thanks Manus…..lovely to see your work again.

Simply done and simply effective, your a star!👍👍🙏

William, you’re a star…..thank you!

Great work, I’ve never tried this but it looks interesting.

I like it Emma, easy and not messy to use…..and you don’t need breathing apparatus! Thank you very much.

Loving it, Fiona, but also agree with Alan's comment. Do you take it out plein air? wondering whether it's too messy???

Thank you Thalia. Yes I do. It’s as easy and non messy as watercolour. I have a 4”x4” glass tile that I take out to squeeze the charcoal on, to mix the strength of wash I require….just the same as watercolour. It dries quick and doesn’t have a powdery finish, but you can re-wet if you want to work into it again. It does say you can use an eraser to lift but you have to scrub at it….I’ve found. If you want any more info let me know.

Thought I would try out the liquid charcoal trial pack of three types from Ken Bromley’s. This is the grape seed one, it’s a greyer black of the three, I’ll post the other two during the rest of the day. It’s very nice to use, thins down to a very pale wash, from the neat extreme…..the texture is like watercolour from the tube. It granulates a little and mixes okay with watercolour. It re-wets and does say you can rub it back but I didn’t get great results in that respect.
