Avocado Nightmare!

Comments

I like this Fiona, especially the lovely touches of pink soft pastel.

I really like this Fiona- among other things you’ve even captured the texture of the Avocado skin-not easy and those rich deep colours- Gorgeous.

I would have had two aubergines and cut one lengthways, but nonetheless it’s a good attempt! Probably needs another session to finish it off!

Fascinating study. So much in so little, great idea!

I also like the richness of colour and depth of tone Fiona, and think your ‘all but the kitchen sink’ works very well! Love that lemon!

Very good messing around!

The intense colours and textures are great but if it was mine I’d do a bit more on the background.

Don't know about the kitchen sink, but the title reminds me of a bathroom we had in the 70's 😁. Some nice textures captured here and the colours are great.

You shouldn’t beat yourself up about this Fiona. You only need to lighten the avocado and it will be a success. Don’t know if it was intentional but the scene struck me as very phallic.

Very good Fiona.

Really nice study.

Really enjoyed reading your comments, and thank you for the corrective tips and advice. I’m going to try another bash at it but just in oils this time…..should be easier, she says! Me too Andrew, apparently coloured suites are making a come back? Lol……your comment made me laugh Carole and you’re right. I hadn’t noticed, unintentional I can assure you. But thinking about a past art class, we studied Robert Colquhoun’s still life work and most of his paintings had a sexual theme……as I’m sure many other artist have. The use of pepper mills in the set up and halved peppers etc.

I do like it Fiona the colours are so good , it surprises me how often we don’t notice the good things in our own work.

Bet you enjoyed eating it though Fiona.

As already suggested maybe lighten the avocado to show off the texture more, but who am I to criticise this lovely work. All the different colours in that lemon are incredible.

I haven't a clue what an avocado looks like as I don't buy them. However I think this group looks very stylish, Fiona!

Well I think it's beautiful 😍 and I love avocados 🥑 on toast

Paul, Sylvia, Anne, Val, Faye……thank you very much for your valued comments. I don’t often see any good in anything I do Paul, I’m sure I’m not alone in that either. It was scrummy Sylvia. Yes I will try making it much lighter on the next one Val, that seems the consensus. Anne you should try them, lovely. I agree Faye, it is!

I love this style of painting Fiona - the energy you have put in is evident. More please!

Shaun thank you! A take your comment as a huge compliment, you’re a demon with pastel!

Many thanks for you uplifting comment Spencer.

16”x12” still life in mixed media on paper. I’ve used everything but the kitchen sink…..oil, oil bars, oil pastels, soft pastels and woodies. I didn’t haven’t a clue how to tackle the Avocado, as you can see, it’s a bit of a muddy spud! Messing around, studio is much cooler than anywhere else in the house at the moment. 🥵
