Gap in the Hedge by Fiona Phipps

Comments

Nice work Fiona, the tree is well positioned and yes there is a little intrigue of ‘what’s behind the hedge’?

That's a lovely painting Fiona and I bet you went and had a look through the gap :)

Lovely watercolour Fiona

A great addition to your super gallery, Fiona. I am curious too!

Like the watercolour style, Fiona, soft and fluid

Like this lots Fiona , I’m hooked on looking through the gods , and over fences in woodlands etc . A lovely painting do evinced your excellent style.

Lovely watercolour painting Fiona.

Beautiful Fiona, feel like entering the gap and going for a good walk.

Terrific combination of colours.

Another super watercolour; I do admire your style.

Agreed, a lovely watercolour Fiona, love the sky and distant hills with the gap in the edge inviting the viewer to venture further

Definitely an intriguing painting, Fiona, love your style,

Lovely Fiona. Love the colour palette.

You are so right about that gap. An invitation. Excellent painting as ever.

I love how use watercolour and ink Fiona. Do you do your washes first and leave the ink until last of all?

Lovely painting Fiona.

I really love this, it's that little gap in the hedge, it makes you feel, anything is possible. It's almost like a once you take a step through, you have gone beyond. It's almost a magical feeling. Must get my watercolours out tomorrow.

Behind the hedge ? Can only guess. It's very good Fiona. Lovely tree and do like the, is it,"scratched out" fence.

Love the brushstrokes in this Fiona.

Lovely painting

Many thanks Stephen….we can’t resist can we. I did, I did Louise but not for the sense of adventure or curiosity….I’m just plain nosy! Thanks! Shaun, Mia, Maureen thank you for taking the time to look and leave your comments. Paul thank you, you are very kind, I think we share a love of the countryside and trees in particular. Thank you Faye! I quite agree Michael, in my case it’s all down to being nosy. Thank you. Carole, Stephen, Karen, David, Lesley, David, Lewis…..I’m very grateful for your positive comments and encouragement, thank you. Sarah, thanks very much. It depends really, this one I painted first then added the pen work but the snow scene I did a couple of paintings ago I drew most of it with the pen first, then watercolour and finished off with a bit more pen work when it was dry. Thank you Linda. Denise, I love your take on the gap, yes, there could be endless possibilities if you step on the other side….I like that idea. Get your watercolours out gal, you were doing some great things with them. Thank you. Thank you Richard, you are very kind. Carrie, Stevan, Romila, Anne I’m very grateful for your comments and support thank you.

Love your loose style with watercolours it’s a medium that seems to suit you, not saying your not good at other mediums though. Excellent!

Nice and loose Fiona. Lovely colours.

Definitely a sense of adventure in this piece, Fiona, love it!

A lovely painting, Fiona - I admire your skillful, loose style!

Such an inviting gap to want to go and explore the countryside Fiona. Love your loose, spontaneous, style.

Lovely sky, it looks like a beautiful day for an autumn walk along that track and into the field. Unlike today!!

Thank you ever so much William, Dympna, Thalia, Heather, Anne, Carole, and Val for your kind words and support. Val, I think we are getting similar weather, it’s awful here too. Getting from the car to the hall for my art class today was a major operation. I had a large piece of paper taped to my painting board and the wind whipped it off, sent it down the road, where it landed in a puddle. Thankfully the heating was on and I dried it on the radiator.

Yes, let us through. The grass is always greener and all that! Seriously Fiona, a lovely painting and thank goodness you managed to rescue it from a puddle!

Thank you Tessa! It wasn’t this one I rescued from the puddle, it was the first of the Matisse study…lol. Mind you, I think it was an improvement! Thanks again.

Another sensitively painted water colour Fiona. Excellent quality!

Many thanks for your comment Shaun.

This is a real beauty Fiona. I do hope you are not being flooded out. The weather sounds pretty awful up there. Have I missed the step 2 Cezanne?

A beauty and very true what you say Fiona

12”x10” watercolour and ink on Saunders. There is something intriguing and inviting about a gap in the hedge, an open gate, or a bend in the road……curiosity or a sense of adventure?
