My Lowry Loving Sister’s Christmas Card.....(25) by Fiona Phipps

Excellent, great Christmas card Fiona. How lovely for your sister to get an original painting by you every year, I’m sure she’ll be very pleased

Thank you very much Hilary. I think this is the sixth one so far, as well as a couple of birthday larger paintings in the Lowry style. She’s mad about Lowry.

This one really tells a story, Fiona. It’s a good thought to paint your own Christmas cards.

Beautifully painted Fiona, there is nothing better than getting some personally made for you.

What a great idea and brilliantly executed, Fiona -Merry Christmas!

You’re pretty good at these Lowry’s, excellent stuff F.

I love this one, possibly even more than previous ones. It's great the way you invent the scene and yet portray it in his style....... the shapes of the buildings, the figures, the chimneys. And, yes, that's how the snow would be. It's a dirty town, the snow has been partly worn away and the mud has mixed into it where the kids have been sliding. I'm sure your sister will love it too.

This is superb Fiona. Hard to tell that it isn’t a Lowry. Love the busy little figures having fun and the quiet wheels of industry not taking over. Your sister will be thrilled with this beauty.

Just great. You have the grubby snow just right. Lowry would approve.

Lovely, Fiona, I remember the others you did. They make great Christmas cards.

Your sister will be pleased Fiona. Theres nothing like receiving a personalised Christmas Card.

Many thanks to you all for your great comments and thoughts. Even though it seemed to take ages to complete, I quite enjoyed the change of this style. Not too neat....which suits me.....and the figures made me laugh whilst doing them. It wasn’t until looking at it the next day that I noticed the character in the figures and dogs etc....after all, they are just dots and dashes.

I hope so Michael! Ref the dog with the rather large ears.....my husband said it looks like a rabbit, I explained it was a rather excited spaniel. I don’t normally sign my paintings unless it’s one I’m selling but my sister insists and I try to make it part of the painting. If I do a Lowry with factories in the scene I usually paint her name across the top or down the side where the owners name would be. Thank you for your comment Michael.

Superb Christmas card Fiona, your sister is very fortunate.

Oh wow, I love it. Can I be your sister this Xmas. I think she will be more than happy.

Sandra and Denise.....thank you both very much.

Love the Lowry card Fiona. Just think, in years to come this might appear on a programme with an art expert attempting to prove its authenticity🤣

This is a lovely Christmas card scene of the people beneath the bridge and those higher up on the siding, the buildings above and the chimney stacks with smoke. Your sister will b delighted and so original too, it has lots of atmosphere and a delight to view!

Brilliant Fiona.

Lol....Katy, it won’t take the expert long to judge it a fake....thank you for your comment and optimism! Angela, I’m glad you like it, thank you. Hello Sylvia, hope you’re well.....thank you for looking and commenting, appreciate it.

Really like this Fiona and what a lovely idea. I sometimes paint cards for relatives as well. My Australian relatives frame them up!!!

She will love it Fiona I know I do

David, Dennis, Linda....thank you very much!

I think it's all been said Fiona but I think this is yet another great "Lowry". I'm sure your sister will love it. She must have quite a collection by now.

Before I read the title I said to myself that's so like a Lowry. Gorgeous!!

Carol, yes she has quite a few now, she’s had some of them framed. Thanks very much x His style is very unique isn’t it Audrey, surprisingly it isn’t easy to emulate, you would think it would be. Thanks very much for your comment.

What a great idea and a lovely painting!

Thanks Diane, hope she likes it.

You've captured the style of Lord really well Fiona. Have a wonderfull Christmas.

A great idea for a Christmas Card Fiona , the painting really tells a story and the composition and colours you selected are great for the subject . Like this a lot .

Stevan, Graham.....thank you both very much for your continued support.

Very enjoyable Fiona.

Thanks very much George, appreciate your comment.

Fantastic Fiona! Being a Lancashire lass I love anything ‘Lowry’!

Christine thank you! I must admit I’m becoming a fan myself. I find his characters so interesting and the fact that with just a flick of a brush something comes alive.

I painted all my Christmas cards this year. This is a clever design for a Lowry lover.

There is a certain satisfaction painting Christmas cards for friends and family, as long as you start early enough! Thank you for your comment Jacqueline.

Thanks very much Romila!

After Lowry. Watercolour and ink on Saunders. I paint my sister a Lowry scene for her Christmas card each year, and this is it for 2020. I loved the mucky snow in this one!
