Fiona this one looks really nice. Or should I say also nice - remembering all your other excellent paintings. You have obviously used a limited palette designed to offer the best effects. Looking forward to the version in oils.

I agree with Pat above. This is really good, Fiona. I, too, look forward to your next version.

A delightful piece of work Fiona, like it very much as it is, in watercolour, especially with the pen and ink work which always charms me.

Very atmospheric. Well done :)

Wow, Fiona, this is really my cup of tea! I especially love the combination of the inks and the very delicate colours. Stunning, I wish I had done this!!!

This has worked very well Fiona, you have produced some nice textures with the ink work.

Fresh, uncluttered, a real delight Fiona

Thank you very much everyone for your kind comments. Looking at it again I think it could do with a few more darker tones here and there......it looks a bit flat.

It loooks good to me Fiona - a lovely fresh painting

This is lovely Fiona

Many thanks Glennis, Petra for taking a look.

Nice scene and great tones, very fresh-looking Fiona.

I love the subtle colours Fiona, looking forward to the oil version.

Carole, Denise.....thanks very much. I've started the oil, but it's very different to this! Funny how different mediums dictate the out-come. Mind you, the photo I've taken it from is a snow scene! I did the pen & wash to get familiar with the subject. Don't hold your breath girls!!

You are a real master at these loose watercolours just loaded with atmosphere, Fiona.

Thank you Jane, but I can't take the credit, it's the lovely way the non-waterproof ink behaves when you touch the wash to it.

Really super vignette of this interesting scene. I particularly like your sky - beautifully subtle.

Thank you Thea.

A really delightful painting, Fiona!

Thanks Seok, much appreciated.

Pen & wash sketch of Ardvrek castle, my intention is to have a go at it in oils.....eventually. Ardvrek castle is on the shore of Loch Assynt in Sutherland and dates from the 16th century. I've used water proof and non-water proof ink with watercolour washes, applied with a dip pen and a bit of stick.
