A great bunch of boats Paul

That is superb, Paul.

Beautiful painting, Paul - you have done a great job with these lovely colourful boats!

Paul, I agree with Heather, 'a great bunch of boats!'

An accurate portrayal of the haphazard mooring of the boats on Hastings beach and a nice range of muted colours. I have several sketches made there of the distinctive net-sheds which I must work up after your inspiration.

Excellent painting Paul.

Thank you for your kind comments I appreciate each one . It’s nice to know that this has inspired you David and it would good to see your sketch worked up .

Super painting Paul.

Like this and Hastings

This long format is working well for you Paul, well painted.

I love all the vibrant little boats against the browns of the sand, very eye catching.

Like this very much !!

That’s a lot of boats Paul. Well done

Love the colourful boats and the effects on the beach.

A great detailed collection of boats. Very well done!

Thank you all for the most kind comments, I appreciate them and for you having taken the time to do so .

Vibrant and eye catching boats Paul.

Excellent work, Dixie. I like the wash effect you have created. How times have changed for our fishing community.

Thank you Leslie and Carol , I appreciate your comments. Most of our industries are in decline as is farming but you will know more about that than I do Carol , become to reliant on cheap imports etc.

Yes to the long format comment - it's serving you very well and enabling you to include the details you enjoy without cramping the picture and overdoing it. I've got to do another one in this sort of scale myself: it's huge fun, apart from anything else.

Thanks Robert I appreciate your comment, I do enjoy working on the elongated landscape format both this size and the slightly wider but shorter version as well .

Wow,Dixie! FANTASTIC!!!! Love it!

Thank you Jennifer, I appreciate your comment.

Your excellent boats - love the variety of colour, and that caramel ink is working well for you.

Thank you Sandra, buying the ink was certainly a good move .

This is a cracker Dixie! So many little boats and I do like the letterbox shape.

Thank you Tessa I appreciate your comment, I really like this format currently in using three different variations of this elongated landscape .

Great picture Paul, and my favourite subject too. I really like the amount of boats you've managed to get in on this one.

Thanks Trevor , bit crowded but that’s how it used to be.

Pen and wash of the fishing boats at Hastings when like other ports the fleet was huge . The beach colour is caramel brown in applied with a fountain brush pen , it’s not totally waterproof enabling the wash effect, I used no water on the beach are .

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
