Great little painting. love the detailing

That's a lovely old building and I like the sense of distance in the background.

A really good old building Paul.

Another good one, Paul.

Thank you for the kind comments, I’m pleased with the building , etc but the tree is stopping me to see it a positive way.

Despite what you say, I think your struggles paid off!

I read somewhere that we become more content as we grow older. If that has any truth in it all, it certainly doesn’t apply to those who paint. But this is a good painting, all the more as it’s from your imagination.

This is really good Paul.

Interesting focus on the building Paul.

I'm with you Dixie about warts and all. Maybe not in your storefront? But it's good to show that life is rarely perfect.

Delightful Paul and I'm glad you put it on the gallery.

Thank everyone for your comment , very encouraging and much appreciated.

Nice one Paul, I like the simplicity of the fields and hills against the foreground tree and building.

It's great Paul and not a snowflake in sight!

Thank you. Andrew and Russell for your comments. Those white blobs in the distance are snowmen Russell not sheep .

A lovely reminder that Spring will come eventually - and that's a super old barn, Paul!

So much to like about this Paul. Love the missing roof tiles, the distant hills, your palette and composition. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Put your glasses on and have another look Paul. 😉 It’s a smashing watercolour and a gentle reminder of what’s around the corner. Green fields and spring lambs…..it’s cheered me up no end!

Well Carole and Fiona , that’s so nice to hear , like all of fellow artists I do give myself a hard time occasionally.

I love this one. Great recession to the hills in the background I think the tree is fine.

I seem to have lost/deleted my comment. Apologies if this comes up as a double post I really like this. Great recession to the blue hills in the background And the tree looks fine to me.

A4 watercolour of an imaginary scene, building and tree behind taken from a winter photograph. I had the tree looking quite good but them succumbed to fiddling with it, mmm never a good idea, made a mess trying to recover it , I wasn’t going to put it on the gallery but why not show mistakes as well . In the end just finished it off as I didn’t want to bin it , oh well another day maybe try it again.

About the Artist
Paul (Dixie) Dean

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
