I wanted it to have an old look , hence subdued greens etc, think I’ve succeeded well I’m happy with it anyway.

Very interesting Paul. Really like your painting of this boat.

Beautiful painting Paul, specially the boat 🚢

What an interesting story, Paul and how welcome those boats would be. Love how you have painted the boat with all that rigging and the cabin - super work!

Thank you Christine , Faye and Anne. I’m pleased with the painting it looks quite nice in the frame on my studio wall , I put my recent painting up for a few day or until I decided to change it . I’m disappointed with the gallery photo as the camera has changed the colour a little and its lost vibrancy.

Great painting, the boat is really good.

A well thought out and well painted composition with great info Paul.

Smashing painting Paul.

That’ s a great boat Paul and love where it is.

Love the boat Paul

Many thank everyone for your very kind comments.

As others have said, that's a well painted boat Paul and thanks for the information, very interesting.

Like it. And it achieves your brief brilliantly 👏

Thank you Diane , Martine and Valerie I appreciate your comments.

An excellent painting Paul and such interesting history. You're really going from strength to strength.

Very good rigging. I enjoyed the VIC story.

Another good one Paul

Sandra , John and Heather thank you for you comments , I appreciate them. John the story is interesting as the navy disposed of the VICs the Scottish shipping companies bought them to expand the fleet , both had flat bottoms and could use shallow water and sit on a beach , bad in rough seas apparently.

My favourite boats Paul, the Clyde Puffers. Well painted.

Thanks George, they ate up there with the old coasters and the Thames Barge in my opinion.

I do enjoy reading your historical notes Paul, very interesting as always. Your painting gives the story life…..excellent.

Thank you Fiona , never sure if people like the background information, I love to know the history behind the images .

A4 watercolour of a Clyde puffer delivering coal etc somewhere in the highlands, one a common scene before many islands and villages along the locks and coast had decent roads. So successful was this design that the Navy had a fleet to deliver coal and rations to the ships anchored out from the bases . They called them VICs each had a number and not a name , VIC = Viculating Inshore Craft , still a few in preservation . Lost some of its translucency when photo was taken.

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
