Great use of left over paint Paul. Good sense of moving through the water from the bow wave, and it’s certainly got a steam up.

Another skillfully painted boat Paul, well done.

Thought it was in Arctic waters for a minute, then read your description... nice piece Paul.

Can’t remember when I last saw one of these old steam tramps, they were plentiful on the Thames when I was growing up. Great reminder well painted.

Nicely done indeed Paul

Well done Paul, great little painting. Your title reminds me of Leslie Philips in the "Navy Lark" on the radio.

Thank you all for your comments they are appreciated. Sadly none around anymore Lew , they were the HGVs and work horses of there day . George I deliberately used that as many years ago I was being taught how to Cox a rescue launch by a navy PO, first time out he said “ turn to port , oh that’s left hand down a bit for you RAF types “ great rivalry between the services , even to who could be the most sarcastic.

Well done Paul. Interesting to hear about the type of boat.

One of your best Paul, the colours work so very well.

A great watercolour Paul and most certainly growing in confidence, you keep them coming as they are all pleasing to the eye! Top work again!🙏👌👍

Its lovely Paul - you can feel the movement!

Such a great shape with the funnel and rigging… nice job Paul!

Thank you everyone for the kind comments, they are appreciated.

Lovely boat, nicely done!

Lovely Paul.

Super ‘left over’ piece Paul. Don’t know what is on the back, but hang this side out!

I like this and the distant cliffs work really well

I like this a lot !!

The ‘fun to do’ unplanned works often work out really well, as has this Dixie. I love the feel of movement and he cliffs in the distance.

Many thank everyone for the kind comments.

You have really conveyed the movement here, Paul - nicely done!

Another excellent ship Paul. I think I know where the title came from, I used to enjoy The Navy Lark too.

A4 watercolour of an old tramp steamer heading up to Great Yarmouth IOW . Not a detailed study as it painted using up leftover paint from the pallet on the back of an old painting, just fun to do and quite relaxing.

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
