This is super and beautifully drawn, Paul - the monochrome suits your subject!

This is really good Paul and, yes, right decision to leave it without colour washes

Nice confident lines in your drawing Paul. The tilt of the main boat gives the work a relaxed sense.

That's a great picture Paul.

Superb boats and shingley beach Paul. Great use of pen and ink and full of interest, with plenty to take in.

I love this Paul. It's brimming with interest.

Many thanks everyone for the kind comments, they are really appreciated particularly as this is a quite new venture for me and as always I have slight doubts about it , that’s until I read such supportive comments.

A beauty Paul great drawing skills.

This is excellent Paul.

Great pen and ink Paul, I trust you counted all the pebbles. Lol

What a stunner Paul you are really coming on in leaps and bounds, so much detail and must have been time consuming but most certainly worth it for such a great end result! Top draw! ( excuse the pun )!👌🙏👍

This is so good Paul. It was the right decision to leave it black and white. Love it!

Superb drawing Paul.

Thank you all for the lovely comments. I did count them John 200o and four half pebbles as they were cut off by the masking tape , I did take a while William I didn’t record the time and it was done in small increments to allow the ink to dry before proceeding with the next step.

I like this, it works well in monochrome. There’s something very appealing about pen and ink work.

Beautifully drawn Paul, amazing detail in the foreground.

Very good Paul, great monochrome drawing.

I love this, wonderful work again!!

Terrific Paul, I love the detail, so much to look at.

Many thanks everyone for your much appreciated comments.

Excellent pen and ink work Paul.

A great pen and ink drawing Paul, you are so good at boats.

Fantastic pen drawing Paul. Lovely as it is.

Alan was right - if you still wanted to add washes of colour, you could take a laser print of it, on appropriate card, and do that. But it has integrity as a black and white drawing and is another step forward for you. There's a LOT of work in this: but I expect you're well aware of that, somehow... I like your little cartouche for a signature, too.

Super pen work, Paul. The watercolour can come next by scanning and saving this, then printing off copies to do "colour trials". I do this in pairs then paint e.g. winter / summer, without spoiling the original.

Well you rightly got a lot of compliments for this Paul. That beach with the pebbles receding in size is quite a star! I’ll take your word for it on the pebble count!😵‍💫

I can only agree with the others. Such good work.

Many thank to you all for the support and kind comments, I’m always appreciative of each comment.

Excellent pen work Paul……lovely tones.

Thank Fiona , I appreciate your comment.

Excellent pen and ink sketche

Love this one Paul!

excellent drawing

This is really interesting and so well drawn Paul! Excellent!

Janet and Diane many thank for your comments.

I had missed this drawing Paul. I’m a big fan of monochrome ink drawings and this is superb. Brings back fond memories of Hastings.

Thank you John . I’m pleased it brought back some memories for you, that's the beauty of these old scenes they often trigger a memory tor those of use who were luck enough to see them before someone pressed the change everything button.

A4 pen and ink drawing of Hastings fishing boats . I used India black ink and a dip pen to draw this scene initially intending to add a watercolour wash , having shown it to a couple of people including Alan Bickley I have decided to leave ax a monochrome ink drawing . Only the back ink was used to creat the scene and clear water to dilute it fir the clouds etc. I will post the proceeds of this and other ink drawing on the forum .
