A great collection of boats Paul. They look so animated as if they are conversing with one another. Lovely pen and wash.

Well done Paul, this is a really good pen and wash.

Nicely done Paul

I think your enjoyment in doing it shines through, a lovely, happy painting

Lots of very good boats Paul and a very good 'quickie' it is too

Top notch Paul!

Eye catching painting - great pen and wash.

Really good Paul, you are making great strides forward with your art.

Thank you all for the kind comments, they are appreciated.

You are going from strength to strength Paul, super painting.

Accuracy is never an issue with my work, I’m after impact- and that’s what we have here! Great job!

Russell , Alan and Stephen thank you I appreciate your comments . I’m a fiddler Alan and struggle to keep things on the loose side , have to stop myself from just a line here ohh one here as well , I am trying to reduce the amount of details in my artwork.

Very good Paul.

Great work, Paul - the foreground in particular works really well with the initial ink drawing. You should do more pen and wash!

Thank you Denise a Jenny , I have several in mind Jenny as I’m finding that I enjoy them and sketching is a long term favourite hobby so combining the two is great , how come I’ve never done it before beats me .

You should be very happy, great job Paul.

You’ve cracked boats and you’ve cracked pen & wash Paul……more of these please.

Andrew , Fiona and David thank you for your response to my post, I really appreciate it.

Really like this a lot Paul

Such a lovely pen and wash Paul. Really like it.

Super intricate boats, Paul - lovely work!

Really good pen and wash, nice composition

Thank you Alan ,Christine, Anne and Romila for your lovely comments.

The boats sit nicely into the beach which is very well handled.

Hi Paul, great picture - can you define 'relatively quick' for me as I do boats myself.

I didn’t actually time it Trevor but the sketch took about fifteen to twenty mins or so at the very most then adding colour was roughly fifteen minutes or , let’s say it took forty five minutes all told. I find once the sketch is done the colour doesn’t take very long at all , I didn’t bother to much with the accuracy and there are definitely some mistakes in there somewhere if I look for them . I have been painting boats for a long time and find that I can do a sketch quite quickly.

Ink and watercolor – Paul, this has turned out fantastically well! I love the cheerful colors and the sea; the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. 🚣🏻

Thank you Tanja I appreciate your comment.

Another beauty ad I do like Carole's idea of the boats conversing!

Thank you Sandra , we never know what goes on in the dead of night , maybe the discuss the very British topic the weather , or brag about the big one roar got away .

Pen and watercolour on A3 paper, it’s an imaginary scene prompted by a comment from Jenny Harris who suggested on a recent post that boats would be a good subject for pen and wash . Not to fussy about the accuracy of the drawings and I’m more than happy with the result, one of those relatively quick pieces that I really enjoyed doing.
