Delightful sketch Paul using the gel pen. Am I right in saying they are humming birds.

Yes Chris they are hummingbirds, hovering by plants to gather the nectar, they need to feed constantly due to having such small bodies and using so much energy to fly and hover .

Lovely sketch Paul of humming birds 🐦

Very effective Paul.

Thank you Faye and Denise for your kind comments they are appreciated.

Nice to recreate your etching Paul. I can see you're loving this pen!

Beautiful black background with white gel pen sketch

A charming and effective sketch, Paul!

These gel pen sketches work lovely.

Like this a lot Paul, good one.

Thank you Marjorie, Romila, Anne, David and Heather for you very kind comments. I’m really enjoying using them Marjorie, a bit scary as well , due to not being able to rub out any mistakes It certainly makes you think more before putting down a mark, similar to using pen and ink. I’m working on ways to get a slightly different tone or shady look in places.

Beautiful sketch, great idea Paul.

Very good Paul, excellent sketching with Gel Pen.

Thank you Carole , Christine and Richard for you kind comments.

That’s a really nice sketch, Paul. You’re a braver man than I.

Very effective - thought it was an etching in the first instance. Certainly an eye catcher.

That is very effective and I love the humming birds!!!

Many thanks Bob, Mike and David your comments are appreciated.

Another very effective piece Paul

This is beautiful Paul and so effective in black and white.

An elegant composition, beautifully rendered.

Certainly is eye catching,

Many thanks Russell, Carole, James and Anne for you comments .

A4 black paper and white gel pen . I originally did this sketch in the 80s and the copied it on to glass, I decided to have another go using a gel pen . The original sketch wax in pencil , sadly long lost.
