Lovely painting - I think the background works really well and makes the colour of the horses stand out

Very good painting of a difficult subject.

The dark background has placed the focus on the horses. Their faces are full of character.

The Prussian blue works well Paul.

I agree, horses stand out with dark background! Nicely done!

Thank you all for you comments particularly I was so unsure of this painting great confidence boost when you have such positive feedback.

Good duo Paul

A difficult subject and the background pushes the gentle giants towards us. Well done, nothing like a challenge Paul.

Thank you Heather and John I appreciate your kind comments.

Agree with everyone - you were bold to go with that background and it works very very well.

Thank you Spencer and Marjorie. I’m pleased it worked out in the end as it was a last ditch attempt to recover it before it went into the bin for the fourth and final time. The colour was used in desperation to cover the awful previous attempts.

That dark back. Ground really works Paul.

Thanks Sylvia I appreciate you taking the time to look and comment.m

They are super Paul. Such wonderful faces and patient expressions. Like the change in background blue. Really well painted.

Thank you Ruth appreciate your comment.

I do like the background Paul, really shows the team up.

Thanks Fiona I value your opinion and appreciate your comment.

Agree with the others, Paul, the dark background sets off the horses very well.

Thanks Jenny I appreciate your comment.

Agree about the background.

A beautiful painting of ‘heavy horses’ I love those gentle giants.

Elaine and Ellen thank you I appreciate your comments.

A4 watercolour in A3 mount , I’ve worked on the background to this painting on and off for two or thee weeks as I just couldn’t get it to look right. I wanted a plain background of one colour initially a pale blue, then a mix of purple and blue look awful then a darker version but that looks washed out . I was determined to try again after deciding to bin it this is the end of the line Prussian Blue .
