Just realised I have forgotten the registration numbers on the boats . It’s taken a while to paint this one due to the heat over the last few days and my difficulty putting in the detail .

Round the corner from me, good one Paul

Lovely bright little boats Paul, all ready to sail off into the sunset. Love the cheerfulness of this Paul.

Well painted Paul

This super Paul. One of your best in my opinion.

Heather, Julie, Carole , George and Lew thank you for your very kind comments.

I like this one Paul - a real depth of colour in. You’ve really captured the lines of the boats.

Superb boats Paul.

Splendid Paul, reminds me of my times done at Hythe

Well painted Paul

A super painting, Paul - excellent boats!

Christine , Stephen, John , David and Anne I appreciate your very kind comments.

Lovely work Paul, I really like this composition and the bright colours.

Highly skilled work has gone into this painting too. Lovely shapes and colours.

Andrew , Ravindra and Sandra , thank you for your kind comments.

Lovely work Paul.

Thank you Denise , the colours are more vibrant in reality but it’s come over ok .

Nice work Paul

Lovely work, I really like the bright colours used.

I’ve painted and drawn so many Hastings trawlers that I no longer need any reference… This is a super trio of these old wooden hulk craft, nice work Paul!

Thank you Alan I appreciate your comment.

Love the bold colours and composition and I agree about the lovely curves on these boats

This has worked well, Paul, like the colours.

I like this very much, the colours are beautiful!!

This is great Paul. Super boats and colours and I really like the shingle beach and objects.

Thank you Jenny , Valerie and David for your comments . Davis Hastings beach around the fishing boats look like a junk yard with all the stuff that isn’t used , I thought it looked wrong with just shingle , and de cluttered it a lot .

That’s a superb painting Paul!

I like the colour combination and composition Paul.

I love a beach scene. The bright colours of the boats against the blue summer sky is so uplifting.

Nicely done.

Thanks Ceri, I appreciate your comment.

Watercolour on A3 paper, fishing boats on the shingle beach out of the reach of the sea . Not as many boats these days as the fishing fleets have shrunk over the last fifty years or so. I love shapes of the wooden trawlers , and the highly skilled work that goes into building them , they seem to have such beautiful lines and curves .

About the Artist
Paul (Dixie) Dean

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
