I love these old tugs. Super picture, your love of the subject comes across well.

I agree with Lewis and I also like the way you've painted the distant skyline

That’s really striking Dixie, the tug stands out well from the distant shoreline, and a good sense of movement. One of your best!

That is quite awesome, Paul! You are so good at painting boats!

I agree with Tessa, one of your best Paul.

This is really good Paul, is it from memory or are you ‘en plein air’?

Another terrific painting Paul, the 'tug' is so well done.

That's a great boat, Paul!

Thank you all for the very kind comments they are appreciated. Unfortunately Frank tugs like this aren’t used anymore , diesel engines these day mind you bigger and more powerful , it made up from a similar tug in a different setting and I added the background. I often take a ship , boat , tree etc from a photo or one I’ve seen and build a scene around them.

Lovely distant buildings that make your tug stand out.

You do these so well, Paul and the water is very good too - excellent work!

Lovely result Paul, the distant shoreline is so well done and the tug is brilliantly painted.

Christine, Anne and Andrew , I appreciate you comments . I’m really pleased with the tug , but to be honest I’m even more pleased with the background the sea and the city came out far better than I thought they would.

Excellent painting Paul.

I like these colours together Paul. The red on the boat really draws the eye, the distant shoreline is very well done too.

Like this one ✔️ 👌

Super tug, also really like the way you have painted the water. The background buildings look just right.

Fine work, Dixie, with the unmistakable Liver Bird building in the background.

Super painting Paul.

A lovely painting, love everything about it !!

Thank you all for the very kind comments, I appreciate each one. I’m encouraged by the feedback regarding the background as I quite honestly wasn’t sure about it , I usually paint in more detail and this is different for me.

Nice work Paul, including the way you’ve suggested the sea and distant horizon!

Thank you Alan , as I said before my main worry was the look if the land and the see , but have had such great feedback from you all I feel more confident.

Very, very good colours and scenery

Thank you Martin , I appreciate your comment.

Wonderful Paul you really are doing some very wonderful work, I love the distance background. 👌🙏👍

Like how you've kept the background all in a mid- grey tone, with the focus on the tug. It's beautifully painted.

William and Hilary thank you for the very kind comments.

This painting is a beauty. The color simplification of the gray/blue background is perfect for bringing out the beautifully drawn and painted tug. I love tugs, the little guiding the mighty.

Thank you Lynne , I appreciate your kind comment. Such small boats but full of power it’s odd seeing such small craft towing some of the huge ships around , they are tough hardworking craft .

Great painting of a busy wee tug doing her job..

One of your best I think, the Mersey is painted so well with lots of movement as is the tug boat and I can see the Liver Bird building in the distance.

Lesley and Val thank you for your very kind comments.

Great painting Paul!

Watercolour of a Rhea tug standing off Liverpool with the city in the slight misty background. These steam powered tugs that were around in my childhood are one of my favourite subjects, my apologies to the residents of Liverpool for not depicting there beautiful city in more accurate detail. Hot today and the paint is drying as it is picked out of the pallet, decided to leave it here also I dint want to much detailing.
