That's super, Paul and that rigging looks good to me- anyway a bit of wobbly line is "artistic"!

Another superb boat painting, Paul!!

This is superb Paul including your wobble.

So much to look at in this one, Paul

I like the detail, interest and lightness of this Dixie, and your name on the building!

Love the detail in your pictures Paul, well done.

Rigging looks fine, nice piece.

Lots to interest the eye in this one (rigging looks pretty damn good to me Paul)

Excellent, love it !!

It's a cracker Paul, the rigging looks pretty good to me!

Terrifically put together Paul dodgy hand or not.

Thank you all for your very kind comments, they are really appreciated and very encouraging.

Nice one Paul. I like the reference to Dean’s the Sailmaker :)

Thank you Sylvia and John . John o couldn’t resist putting the name oh the board, these old buildings did carry the name and business of the owners did get a bit a ribbing at home about it, I did it with tongue in cheek as they say .

Lovely Paul.

Thank you Denise and Carole for your comments .

Lots to see here Paul, lots of interest.

A really good job here Paul! I do like the buildings in the background and you’ve kept the rigging fairly light and not intrusive, which is good!

This is excellent Paul, and great from your imagination. You know your boats...it's full of interesting detail.

John, Alan and Lew thank you for your comments , one of the things I do enjoy sketching or painting Lew.

Nicely painted, Paul. The slightly wobbly rigging shows movement.

Thank you Linda I appreciate your comment .

Seem to have missed this beauty, like it very much.

A4 watercolour on Bockingford rough paper, imaginary scene of a pilot cutter on the slips under repair. While in the yard they might sort out the rigging as my wobbly hand has made it a bit untidy. It’s seems to be coming up slightly lighter in colour that the actual painting, done for relaxing more than a true copy of a cutter , enjoyed fiddling with this .

About the Artist
Paul (Dixie) Dean

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
