Like this a lot Paul.. Smashing.

Nicely detailed picture Paul, well painted.

Good one Dixie, and I like the detail.

Full of atmosphere although in a place like that it's probably a good thing we can't smell it!

So full of action and interest Paul. Great details on the boat and buildings.

Great variety of buildings Paul.

This is a beauty Paul 😍

Lots of interest here Paul, a busy scene nicely captured.

A busy dockside scene with lots to look at, a super painting Paul.

Busy, but not over fussy Paul, handled beautifully.

Thank you all for your very kind comments I appreciate them. It’s strange how you look at a painting and don’t feel it’s quite right then look again much later and pick out some good points , definitely pleased that I decided to post it.

That’s a lot of buildings to cope with Paul… you’ve made a sterling job here!

Very nicely done Paul. I love the detail of the ship and the buildings.

Alan and Spencer thank you for your kind comments I really appreciate them. It did become a bit daunting hence the reason I put it aside Alan, it actually felt to complicated to be honest it just grew.

Lots going on,interesting variety of buildings, and after enjoying all the details my eyes are drawn to the smoke billowing from the chimneys,

Great jumble of buildings Paul, lovely ship too!

Thanks Ross for you comment it’s appreciated, I did give up on it several times and wondered why I was doing it.

This is great. Lovely soft colours.

Thank you Bobbie I appreciate your taken the time to look and comment.

23x36 cm watercolour, of a old tramp coaster unloading dockside. A did this a few months ago and didn’t post it then as I thought it too fussy l came across it today and with a couple of touches it looks ok . An imaginary scene, I do love these old ships and the way that they earned their living picking up cargo at each port before moving on , no home port normality.

About the Artist
Paul (Dixie) Dean

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
