Low Tide

Paul I hope you are feeling better now. I like this, the buildings are very good and all that rigging must have taken ages. I like the industrial faded background too.

This is a lovely scene Paul. Hope you feel more like yourself soon.

Hope you feel better soon, Paul - I think the painting looks very good!!

First of all I hope your feeling better soon Paul. I think it's a smashing composition that under the circumstances you have done very well with.

I like it too, always love the colours you use, hope you are feeling better Paul.

so I like it extraordinarily well, I like the "loose" style generally very much, and here I find it very balanced and harmonious.

Carole , Christine, Coral, David and Chris many thank for you well wishes and comments. In definitely feel much better , as to the painting in ok with it but lost the enthusiasm sadly as I was thoroughly enjoying doing it , I resorted to using pencils for the rigging .

Gala we must have been writing at the same time , thank you for you lovely comments. I was originally trying to keep it quite loose and hopefully that’s come across, one of my favourite subjects these old Thames sailing barges .

Hope you're feeling a lot better, picture looks great to me.

Glad you are feeling better Paul, the painting looks fine.

Turned out really well. Particularly like the sails and the rigging.

I really like this one! x

Super work Paul. Full of detail. Hope you feel more like yourself soon but this is a great painting just as it is!

Stephen, George, Andrew , Cathy and Spencer than you for your encouraging comments I really appreciate them. When you not sure about a painting and you have such nice feedback it certainly boosts the moral. Sometimes we are just to close , emotionally to our work without realising it.

The painting looks fine to me Paul, you're so good at painting boats.

Thanks Val I appreciate your comment.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better Dixie. I remember seeing the beginning of this (on the forum?) and think it’s come out pretty well. I love the old buildings and how you’ve painted the main boats. If I had one slight crit (yell if you want to!) I feel you’ve gone a bit heavy on the masts and they’ve taken over the view, but what do I know! Just a thought.

Lovely loose work and you have done so well, especially not being very well. Get better soon Paul.

Tesla and Carole thank you for your comments I appreciate them . I can see what your saying Tessa and agree that the masts and furled sails cut out the buildings behind them. These old boat were top heavy with sails and to keep the proportions right I kept the sails in perspective. I was going yo have one in full sail ready to depart but though that would be far to much . No I won’t yell at you you made a fare comment, I do do value opinions from fellow artists.

Just wanted to make sure you knew I was wishing you well. (earlier comment) Like the painting too.

Thank you Valerie I really appreciate it.

Lovely, Paul. These wonderful old vessels must have been quite a sight!

Hope your feeling better and I actually quite like it. Looks like it has a pastel feel to it

Thank you Anne and Faye for your kind comments . No it’s definitely watercolours, you can still see these old barges in and around the Thames estuary and you can actually sail on one . Not as many as there used to be due to motorised shipping taking over , some were used at lost at the evacuation of Dunkirk.

A3 loose canvas watercolour painting. I started this weeks ago and due to having flu and other things going on I lost interest . Picked it up again yesterday but can’t get back into it to do it anymore justice , one of those that get rushed off , definitely not happy with it.

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
