I like your use of complimentary colours, nice one!.

It looks an impressive ship and interesting info, Paul. It’s also a very nice watercolour.

Perfect for drawing! Just my thing Paul… lovely sketch and a bit of history.

Great information Paul and a lovely painting to boot.

Thank you for your kind comments Pete. Marjorie, Alan and Chris fir your kind comments comments. It’s an amazing place Alan the colours of the metal etc are superb , the Skye was so clear that it looked unreal . I was lucky enough to have a day stop curtesy of Royal Navy in the mid eighties. Only wish I was into painting back then.

How interesting to hear the background behind your painting. A great ship!

Interesting info Paul. Great ship. Love the angle you have done it aswell. Lovely watercolour

This is a beauty Paul and lovely to hear the background history.

Love the ship and the colours well done

Great watercolour Paul, you always capture rusty subjects so beautifully.

Love your painting and description. What a wonderful old ship.

Thank you Christine , Faye, Kit, Denise, Moira, Gillian and Lew for your comments. I had to make adjustments to the sky it looked so false in the just blue despite it marching the real colours. I decided to remove some colour and added the clouds , it seems to have come out ok.

Beautifully captured

24x32 watercolour painting of a old whaling ship at Grytviken in South Georgia. Nearby is the old whaling station and a museum oddly it often used by seals and elephant seal’s for rearing their young etc. Ernest Shackleton is buried in the grave yard. The old steam trawler Viola was alongside Petral was was recovered to Hull for restoration.
