Life in those dead trees

Comments

You do love your trees Paul. Super shapes.

Always sad to see a dead tree. But as you say they still take part in nature's cycle. Nice one Dixie.

Really good Paul

A lovely watercolour.

Thank you Sylvia, Lew , Heather, David for you comments. It is sad Lew but a vital part of the woodlands regeneration etc as you know. I have ring barked a dying tree before now to speed up the process and to help sustain the invertebrates .I’m aware that some people get angry at that , but in a overcrowded environment the space and light is needed , good job they don’t do it with people or I’d be long gone. Your right on the mark Sylvia , I do love trees I’m almost a tree spotter .

It’s amazing how quickly ivy can climb a tree and almost give it a rebirth as a brand new ecosystem and you’ve captured it beautifully Paul. A super painting!

More lovely trees, like it a lot.

Love this!

Beautifully shaped trees Paul and interesting to hear about your tree management activities.

Lovely watercolour Paul.

Christine, Sarah, Steve and Denise thank you for you comments and taking the time to look at my painting.

Lovely, Paul - the Ivy gives your old trees such character in the painting. How lovely to understand so much about them too. (We were glad of the shade of a large tree today on a very warm, very short stroll!)

Thank you Anne for you kind comment. I think the shade from trees and shrubs feels different to that of man made structures, more cooling somehow either that or I’m totally of my head and imagining it.

A23x32 cm watercolour if dead trees in the hedgerow, unfortunately a thing becoming more come due to disease and climate change . These dead tree often used as a perch for birds and birds of prey in particular are absolutely teaming with wildlife, many different types of bugs live on and in them . They support more wildlife than when they were living trees. Due to the decay and the bugs they offer a larder to birds and invertebrate eating wildlife . I think they look magnificent in the hedgerow.
