Superb! A very interesting topic to paint!

Interesting painting Paul, love the power station in the background.

Love the info Paul. Love the painting.

Unusual view point and a great display of barges Paul.

My favourite boats, great line up of them here Paul, super background!

Thank you David , Denise, Chris, Carole and Alan for you kind comments. I think these boats are so graceful look even when sat on the mud . I agree Alan they are something quite special , l keep looking at old photos of them hauling hay up to London in the early 1900 , look like floating haystacks. I was a bit unsure about posting this, but I am pleased it did , it’s been sitting around for a week or so .

I like the fact that you have held back on the detail Paul, it gives these old boats that added air of mystery. Lovely watercolour.

An interesting painting, Paul - with the old boats and power station complemented by a lovely evening sky!

Nice, all those masts work a treat

Many thanks Fiona, Anne and Heather for you kind comments.

Great Paul. Thames barges with I guess Battersea Power Station ! Very good sky.

I really like this Paul - just the right amount of detail :)

Thank you Richard and Margaret for you kind comments. Yes it a representation of Battersea in the early 1930s.

About a4 watercolour painting, inspired by a b&w photo taken in the 1930s. Evening the barges are tying up for the night having delivered coal to the power station . Some would stop off on the sandbanks and fill up with sand as ballast and sell it to the brick works ext , some would transport bricks or other product as ballast. Done very quick as a bit of fun and relaxing hence not a great deal of detail.
