Ah I remember the song from school! A marvellous piece of artwork Paul.

Yes remember the song too. Great composition Paul and beautifully executed.

Excellent Paul, you’ve not overloaded it with distracting colours everywhere! One for the wall I feel…

A super Painting!! I remember the song too!!

This is beautiful work Paul. You paint ships so well and always manage interesting surroundings.

Thank you Carole,Chris, Alan, and Denise for your very kind comments. I did not want to loose the focus of the ships Alan , hence the subdued landscape and the very dark ship and tugs. I did think the song would bring up some memories for a few people hope you enjoyed it, it not in my hard and is driving me to distraction.

Many thanks Heather, David and Carole for you kind comments, we must have been posting at the same time .

36x24 cm on 310g/m watercolour paper. Setting is ship, leaving locks in Liverpool docks . Whilst researching big ship the song from years ago came up “ the big ship sails on the ally- ally oh, apparently it relates to the Manchester ship canal, Liverpool docks and the Atlantic. I use black for the hull something I don’t normally do but it seemed to be appropriate. Influenced by a online photo , acknowledging the photographer whom ever they be .
