That is a lovely painting!!

Lovely painting Paul. Horse looks happy with new shoes 👍 nice compostion too

Like your imagination. Real nuisance about the brown ink but I think you've retrieved it well. (My cat recently walked all over my wet oil painting!)

It looks very good to me. The dark barn looks natural to me, no one would know that you did not always intend it to be there.

I think the barn enhances the painting and you have made a lovely job of this Paul.

It's great to work from the imagination, a good result despite your 'mishap'. As David says, I don't think we would have known it wasn't as intended.

Thank you David, Faye, Heather, David, Carole, and Lew for your very kind comments. I feel much better about the painting thanks to your positive comments. I’m sure you all know what it’s like , unplanned change that sort of put me off my stride , and all I could think and see was that bl- - dy barn .

Looks great Paul. Great work from your imagination.

It is a lovely painting Paul with plenty to look at, you wouldn't know a mishap had occurred.

Thank you Chris and Denise for your comments , fortunately in hindsight I was able to think of the barn , I was about to bin it , but thought of how I was particularly pleased with the horse.

You shouldn’t have told us about the spill, we’d never have known! All works well Dixie. I like the detail- the shoe waiting on the anvil etc, very good.

A charming painting, Paul- and no problem with the barn (which looks good) - I noticed the patient horse first!

Thanks Tessa and Anne . I mentioned it Tessa in case someone wonder why a dark barn , but i think it’s because it’s what stands out to me I thought might for others. I’m pleased you said that Anne as I have just started painting horses and was hopefully that it would be the focus of the painting . Have plans for a few more paintings featuring a horse.

I wouldn’t and don’t consider your barn a problem Paul, didn’t notice it until I read your description, which made me look closer…lol. It’s a great look into a rural practice, nice one.

Thanks Fiona , I have become used to it know and don’t mind it as much as I did. I think probably my initial response was because I did not want it there or planned it initially, but then we should always be flexible and respond accordingly.

It's one of those happy accidents Paul and hasn't detracted from what is a super painting.

Thanks Val , at the time I was so cross with my self for being so clumsy and careless. I’ve had time to see it differently and the positive feedback had helped me to see it , without focusing on the barn.

It's a lovely painting Paul. I don't think you messed it up at all.

Great attention to detail

Thank you Diane and Moira for you most kind comments they are appreciated.

Missed this as have been away but noticed it on the 'October selection' bit. Hope you feel happier with it, I think it's really lovely and nicely painted. You can feel the horse shifting his weight as he is shod. And the barn looks fine to me!

Thank you Sarah, it’s one of those painting that Ive come to like more , I’m pleased with the horse as it’s one of the few that I have painted in watercolour. I do like sketching and now painting them .

24x32 cm watercolour on 200 gsm paper . Imaginary scene of a horse at the village smithy . Had a disaster, when moving the painting while in the process I dropped some brown ink , had quite a time removing most and had to change the painting hence the dark barn building where trees should have been . It’s spoilt the picture in my view as that’s all I notice .

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
