What a great painting Diana, I like the dark colours you have used. Hope your back isn't too painful!

Who would have thought that being an artist could be so dangerous :) Love the painting with the play of sunlight on the washing and the lawn, shame the tree got blown down. The paints you won in the Jean Haines competition have helped you produce a winning painting. I hope you recover from your injuries soon Diana

This is very effective and quote beautiful, Diana.

Sounds painful Diana, but this is a super piece and a fair size.

Hello Margaret and thank you I love my darks!! I have a pretty inadequate skeleton in that it’s been pretty arthritic since my early 40s but there are much worse things to have. So long as I can see and operate a pencil/ paint brush I’m happy. Hello Val and yes, I used three of the new colours which I loved. I’m also pretty clumsy and accident prone😄 Thank you Dawn. Shame about the washing line but there were lovely highlights dotted around the scene. Thank you Alan , It’s pretty uncomfortable but we have to carry on painting 👍

If you are a skilful talented painter like you whatever you paint will be good.......Cheers.

Peter, that’s a lovely comment to read and much appreciated. Thank you.

Well its a beautiful painting Diana, gorgeous shades of green and congratulations on being a winner in the flower composition, sorry to hear about y our mishaps in your art room but at least you have a lovely painting to make up for it !!!

Wonderful use of dark and light, Diana. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thank you Linda. It was a lovely surprise and the book / paints are beautiful. There were so many worthy entries. I do have the ability to be extremely clumsy. Thank you Cesare. So long as I can paint, Im happy.

Well, your quick, loose and not too much concentration.....has produced a stunner Diana. I hope your back improves greatly and soon.

Lovely painting Diana

I am very sorry to hear all about your accidents Dare I say "have you thought about going to S--------sLOL???" another great painting, what sort of paints did you get? well done and get well soon Diana

So sorry about your injuries Diana. Love this painting with it's light and shade contrasts.

Tremendous play of light in this, Diana. The darks are stunning...as usual with all your lovely work. Sounds like you need to wrap yourself in cotton wool...hope you soon feel much better!

Thanks Fiona. I actually believe that when circumstances force us to abandon preciseness,it can work in out favour Hello Helen and thank you. I have had arthritis from my 40s and think that maybe it’s time to think about preventative measures too Thank you Dennis. Hello Tao and thank you. I really ask for trouble a lot of the time for not learning from mistakes and taking care. I’m far too impulsive. I got a set of SM couloirs which are some of Jean Haines favourites. They are beautifully vibrant. Hello Sandra and thank you. I have a tendency to be cautious with mid tones and think this could have benefited from a bit stronger colour. It’s a hazy atmosphere I suppose. Thanks Thalia. I need to take more care I think !!

Thank you Maureen. There’s something appealing about putting washing outside at the start of spring

Half imperial watercolour on Royal institute heavy rough paper. This is a scen from earlier in the year before a gale. I no longer have a washing line. Last week I injured my back by leaning over from my art table to pick something off the floor. My art room has so far given me a rib injury and two broken little toes from walking into my easel and leaning and stretching at my table!! Yesterday J managed a little play with some paints that I won in the Jean Haines competition. Today I can hobble gingerly and sit for short periods so my painting had to be very quick and loose without too much concentration ??
