Gorgeous sparkle emitted from the glasses and rosy edges which add lustre and glint.

Thank you Audrey. I started this second version a while ago then got distracted with new paintings. I find it difficult to return to a piece after I’ve lost the momentum. Thank you Marion. It’s a fascinating subject to paint. I love the distortion of objects through it Thank you Russell. I think watercolour is ideal for painting the translucency. Thank you Angela. The bottom of the cake was in more shadow which really brought out the highlights of the candle area. I struggled to capture it as colour mixing isn’t my strong point

I completely repainted this to achieve a cleaner and less overworked painting. I used brighter, looser washes to crisper up the glass and focal point/s Half imperial watercolour on Saunders Waterford heavy CP
