Congratulations, well deserved!

They're great, well done!

Many congratulations, Diana! Two great paitings.

Thoroughly deserved Diana, well done!

You achieve great drama in your everyday subjects, and this is in no small way due to your achievement of the effect of the light. I have tried to fathom what makes your pictures so dramatic, and I have concluded this is through your achievement of darkest darks. In watercolour I have found this to be challenging. How do you do it? Do you use paint thick or with multiple applications (Which tend to deaden my paintings). What is your preferred mix to achieve your darks?

How wonderful. I'm truly delighted for you!!!! Two absolutely super watercolours. You have a marvelous technique and I love that mix of well painted wooden hangers and the colours in the candles one are perfect. Very clever! The only thing is, with all the excitement, you'll probably have a few sleepless nights now. I know that I would!! Well done Diana, you deserve it ..

CONGRATULATIONS DIANA!! Two wonderful paintings!!

Thank you Fiona . In my head,I’m still a floundering beginner. Nandhini, thank you again, you much be sick of hearing me bleating on! Thank you Jim,it’s a bit surreal but I’m going to enjoy my moment. Thank you Dennis, there may well be a few more watercolour artists from here in the same exhibition. Thank you Emma, it’s rather exciting, even at my age. Sarah, thank you for your good wishes. It’s such an honour to be writing about this. Thank you Cesare , I have had such support from you. Russell, thank you ,there is some amazing talent around us. Hello Philip, thank you for your compliments. I love these strong light contrasts and usually need at least two layers of colour. I often use burnt umber or sienna with French ultramarine, indigo or a really dark colour like Winsor violet or perylene green. For a more textured look ,I mix the colours on the paper rather than in the palette. I tried applying paint very thickly but you lose the depth within the colours that way as well as getting a sheen Thank you so much Louise. It’s rather nice to feel the excitement of a child again, and yes, there will be disrupted sleep. I’m glad I’m not the only one ! Satu, thank you, it’s a wonderful surprise and a good excuse for a day or two in London. Thank you Marjorie, there are so many of us here with great talent. Thank you Linda . I’m so humbled to be in an exhibition alongside artists whose work I worship Timothy, thank you , I’m so surprised and am going to enjoy my moment. Thank you Carole, I honestly didn’t expect it to happen for a few years yet,if ever. So many amazing watercolour artists. Alan, thanks so much. I feel like a right old show off but I’m pretty chuffed. Thank you Jenny ,that’s a big tick on my bucket list. Thank you P.O. team. I have re read the email many times to check that I haven’t misread it . Linda, thank you very much. The support here has been such a great help in boosting my confidence
