This stands in its own right. Do you ever make cards Brian? Or use an online service where you can have a selection for a short run.? Worth a thought?

Yep, this makes a super painting as it is. So well done.

Thank you very much, Marjorie and Lew, for the swift replies to this one. always appreciated. I have never put anything to print, Marjorie, although I'd love to have a go. I'm giggling just thinking about it. *smile* The thing is, I wouldn't know where to start with regards to type of printing available etc. Having said that, I printed some Marilyn portraits for my brother and aunts, and I have my own printed copy of Dove Cottage, plus the originals. I'll have to check the forum for printing advice. Good thought, there, Marjorie. Thanks for the nudge. Just a bit of judicial cropping, Lew, with an eye on composition. Glad the yellow beak came out. Thanks again Bri

Yes, stands in its own right as a crop Brian, tremendous.

Thanks very much, Alan, for looking at this one yet again. I really appreciate and value your input very much. Delighted the crop works. Bri

I agree with everything that's been said here, it's a great picture cropped as well 😀

Thank you very much, Linda, for the thumbs up on the crop. Appreciated. Bri

This is so elegant Brian. It must be wonderful to look at in a larger form.

Super crop Brian, it does show the light better and makes the gull a more important item. As regards getting cards printed, I’m not on commission (I wish!) but I’ve had several batches done by Truprint, and been very happy with them, and relatively easy to use, which I didn’t find with others recommended to me. They have regular offers which make them affordable to sell at exhibitions etc! (Other sites obviously available!)

Thank you very much, Carole, for the kind comments. Appreciated. It does look different in "real" life, with the scale being ramped-up quite a bit. I know one or two people who paint large, and I can now see the attraction. Bri

Thank you very much indeed, Tessa, for the great comments and generous pointers. Deeply appreciated. Some excellent advice, there, on how to proceed with a potential print run. I'll definitely look into the possibility. I've a few paintings I'd like to make copies/prints of, and a few drawings/pastel paintings to boot, so it's been lurking in the dark recesses. My ignorance startles me sometimes. *smile* Bri

Superb in every way, Brian, I totally agree with all the other comments, especially Marjorie's and Alan's!

Great to see a close up of this remarkable painting Bri, it must be great seeing in the hand. I do hope you are going to hang it on your wall.

Thank you very much, Thalia and Margaret, for the super comments. I'm so pleased you like it. I would hang it on my wall, Margaret, but my wife said, "I hope you're going to give that one away". This was followed by, " What the hell are you going to do with that"? She's a hard woman! *smile* Best to both Bri

Stunningly beautiful Brian.

Thank you very much, Carole, for the very generous comment. Appreciated. Bri

I think this is absolutely stunning

Wow Brian! This is something else......you can really appreciate the highlights on the foam tipped waves, as well as on the gull. You’re going to have to go some to top this one....you know that don’t you!lol

Thank you very much, Diana and Fiona, for the amazing comments. Bowled over I am. I'll do my best, Fiona. *lol* It was a labour of love and hatred, with love winning by a short head. Best to both Bri

Thank you very much, Dorothy. Appreciated. Bri

Wow, you've captured the light and energy of the sea superbly. And the understated sky is just as impressive and convincing. I sometimes literally crop my paintings and find this often makes the composition much stronger. I paint on board so its easier to cut down in size and reframe. People sometimes keep my offcuts and display them as small paintings, which I find quite funny. Many thanks for your comment today about my Provence painting.

Ha! *lol* Great story, Chris. Many thanks for the kind and generous comments. Much appreciated. Bri

Hi Brian. Absolutely love the 'life' you have given to this sea!! Scary!! I agree with previous comments. Had a look at the original painting and can see how the crop makes the gull a focal point. For me...…. the original is best though. Regarding printing... I have had a small print run done for a piece for the National Trust on the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland. The prints were done from a high resolution photo taken by a professional who visited my home to do it. Fantastic outcome though, and not too expensive, £25 for the photo, and around a few pounds for an A4 print. Worth the money.

Just read this in my account comments, Des, and appreciate the analysis and advice very much. I have the original hanging on my bedroom wall and even my wife is beginning to like it, which is really quite startling. LOL. I reckon £25 for a professional photo is pretty good, in fact I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely keep in mind for the future. Bri

Wow. This is excellent. So atmospheric and spot on with light and shadow.

Given the size of the original post 3ft x 3ft, oil on canvas, here's a detail of the gull. Hope you don't mind but I thought it gave a better impression of the finished article.
