Fantastic Brian, love the blue.

Great painting ,love the sea gulls.

Love those waves coming into shore and the reflections of the seagulls in the wet sand.

Good job, I guess this is something every artist must have a shot at and you did it well.

Oh Brian, I love this! What a gorgeous sea scape, it makes you feel as if you could walk straight into the waves, it's really beautiful.

Thanks a lot, everyone, for the really encouraging replies; I had no idea how this would be received. I nearly called this "Welcome Blue", Carole. Changed my mind. Thanks, Chris, for the seagulls comment. I wish I'd placed them a bit higher but not to worry. I'm delighted the reflections and shoreline were working, Linda. Thanks for letting me know. I DID feel like simply having a go, David, and just went for it. Thanks for the nod. Too kind, Margaret. I'm so pleased you liked this one. I used a shoreline photo from my own stock and added a few extra details. Thanks again to all, Best, Brian

A stunning backdrop to the unfolding drama Brian, every bit is just marvellous.

Thanks, Fiona, for a more than generous review. I'm so pleased you like this effort and delighted you let me know. Apart from a touch of yellow in the whites and a grey/black mix for the feathers, everything else is a shade of blue. Best Brian

Such a calming blue Brian. Could look at it for ages.

‘A shade of blue’ would make a great title Brian!

Just beautiful Brian.

What a lovely thing to say, Carole. Thank you very much. Brian

Why didn't I think of that, Fiona? I like it very much. Cheers. Brian

Thank you very much, Sandra, for the kind comment. Appreciated. Brian

It’s a lovely tranquil painting beautifully painted

Thanks, Dermot, for the kind reply. Sorry about the tardy response but I've been full of busy, as we say round these parts. *smile* Best Brian

This is an expressive representational oil painting that I started as an experiment, just to see what it would look like. The gulls in the foreground are welcoming each other and so the break through occurs as the sun breaks through. The birds in the background are waiting for the outcome of the meeting and welcome. It's oil on canvas, 46 x 36cms.
