Beautifully done Alan, good to see the buildings surrounding the pub. I like both versions for different reasons, but do make you look closer and take in scene with the mind adding more than there is.

I could happily live with any of these sketches Alan, they really are exceptional. This one is superb. The variety of marks and line is excellent.

Great sketch Alan, full of interest.

Excellent, Whitby is such an interesting place

Superb work.

Just added a heart for a fine sketch.

It maybe without the boats but this is an exceptional sketch and one that would grace someone wall as it is, this is absolutely superb Alan just a wonderful piece of art!! Love it!🙏🙏👌👌👍👍

Low the low tide ones.👏

Tremendous as always Alan

I wish my sketchbooks looked more like yours - few of my drawings could stand up in their own right as pictures you'd want to hang on the wall - the best of them are "quite interesting" .... and that's my own estimation; I don't know that others would share it. I looked at this and immediately thought of Charles Dickens - the wharf features in many of his scenes, probably inspired by his years in Portsmouth: you have working buildings, practical if not inspired architecturally, frequently in a poor state of repair, but always with their own story to tell, and history sealed into the brick, the wood, the pulleys and stone.

Another fine piece of sketchingAlan, great style.

So much information relayed through your admirable, loose mark making, Alan. Full of interest and inspiration.

Another superb sketch

High quality sketches - you achieve such great quality in these works Alan.

This is wonderful Alan. So dynamic and engaging

The second of my wharf side sketches featuring the famous Prospect of Whitby pub, well worth a visit if you’re down that way - Pen and wash in my sketchbook… just buildings this time without and boats!
