Loving these sketches, Alan, full of vigour and simplicity, and proving less really IS more!!!

Has a lively feel to it.

Gorgeous Alan- so inspiring- a great idea too-

Wonderful movement in your sky Alan, together with the sketchy buildings …..a winner.

Love the spontaneity of this iconic spot. Tremendous energy and lovely simplicity Alan.

Another great sketch, again lovely colours.

Lovely Alan.

I do like this, Alan. Love the mark making in the sky.

Lovely juxtaposition of calm and busy passages throughout the painting, Alan - it really creates interest and leads the eye round the painting beautifully.

Love the colours in this.

Lovely atmosphere.

Great sketch - loose and full of movement.

Lovely warm browns Alan.

I really like your technique - and composition!

Stunning work Alan.

I love it. Was it mostly plein air or mostly studio? You do leave white spots at the background , which gives a sketch very fresh and feeling, however your the darkest values are at the foreground and with combination with the white spots bordering the the darkest tones , air perspective world very well. A lot of will power to leave those small white patches at the back!

Thanks Dmitri, yes, it was all plein air in my watercolour sketchbook. Ten minutes at most I think… The white areas are left to give that sketchy impression, appreciate your comments!
