A superb sketch Alan , the paper looks really good.

Recognised this as yours immediately Alan. Always enjoy your uncluttered scenes with such lovely use of light and shadows.

Beautifully done Alan.

That looks gorgeous paper Alan, what a pleasure it is to see such skill in the use of it.

Well what lovely and positive comments… it was just a doodle in all honesty, but I appreciate them all!

It's amazing how much light and shade you can express - well, yes, YOU can express! - in a basically monochrome drawing: you've added a touch of gouache? Or perhaps white ink - I remember the stuff they used to sell as white ink: it separated badly, and had to be shaken with some vigour to get the density of a real white; and then it yellowed, as I recall. Anyway, never mind that trip down memory lane, it's another good 'un from Mr B.

Thanks Robert, white gouache!

The B/W combo works well here, showing how important tone is. I always think of Roland Hilder when I see these sort of scenes.

Looks as if you really enjoyed this one Alan and the tinted paper enhances your sketch.

Paper looks lovely and I absolutely love it when monochrome paintings give the impression of sunlight shining!

Fabulous tones and details Alan - superb work.

Interesting ink drawing and the birds bring it alive Alan.
