Pleaded to see you back at your best Alan. This is top draw, well done.

Lovely painting Alan really caught the feel of quiet cold fields , that warmth in the sky sets it all off , superb

Really beautiful Alan. Great colours, lovely touches of warmth.

A lovely painting with a very natural paletteAlan. Love the orange peeping through. Hopefully the landscape will be more spring like soon.

'Style' was a thread on the forum recently, well your 'style' is instantly recognisable Alan. Superb work.

Oh Alan, this really is lovely. The blue and red hues work so beautifully with the snow. Gorgeous!

Great winter light and colours!

Superb cccold Winters day painting, Alan -love the sky particularly.

Love the colours and sense of distance. Great style.

Crickey!, this was only a quick 60 minute blast to get me back in my stride, thank you all so much for some of my best comments to date.

Super Alan. Love your colours, composition, mark making, everything.

Stunning; love the arrangement of cool colours, with a touch of warm colours. I know this area.

Love the choice of colours and the grass details and bushes.

Superb Alan what a light throughout

I wondered where you were! Chest infections are no fun at our time of life (and probably not at any other) - very wise to avoid the turps for a while: but you've come back in style with this one.

This is just lovely Alan. An over used word I know, but it is :) That road leads me in to the scene and the cold colours with the touches of orangey brown are fab.

Simply beautiful, Alan.

This is magical Alan and the colours work so well.

Fabulous painting Alan, oil paints give a great effect.

Great winter scene Alan, I like the touches of red and orange, smashing. Hope you are feeling better.

This is very attractive Alan, a lovely evening view. Like the format too.

Gorgeous painting Alan. I'never taken up turps and use "Zest it instead" - seems to work for me.

A truly stunning piece, Alan. Absolutely love the textures, the composition, the palette. A really superlative piece. I'm sorry to hear you were ill and hope you're fully recovered now.

A scorcher Alan! It’s got it all.

Just logged in (morning here) and see this lovely painting has made the top line - so pleased, it really deserved to.

Almost missed this beauty, Alan. Wonderful snowy scene with good atmosphere.

Just as superb as ever Alan.

This is simply lovely. Seeing paintings like this makes me miss your island even more!

Great snow scene, Alan, love the colours and foreground detail, as well as the square format.

Must of missed this one Alan I left my iPad at my mothers and was missing from the site for a week. Great composition and love the combination of warm and cool colours.

Oil on MDF 20 x 20in. Inspired by the flurry of snow a few Sunday's ago, and a scene that I never tire of. Back to painting oils again after a chest infection which didn't take kindly to the aroma of turps.
