A very good lesson in how to achieve atmosphere and expression with a minimum of detail and colour Alan. Don’t think I would ever manage to be so restrained but I admire the splendid results you achieve with such parsimony.

Hang on Studio Wall

From a watercolour sketch in one of my many old sketch books. An old stone breakwater near Polperro as I recall. I’ve kept detail and colour to an absolute minimum, and tried to concentrate on atmosphere. Jackson’s Artist Oils on their linen board 40 x 50cm.
