Just lovely, Thea! You're so economical in your style, yet all the light and dark contrasts are so effectively captured. Love it!

Thank you for your very nice comment. I had to do this painting in short bursts as with so many buildings, it was tricky not to start to be over repetitive. I had to try to keep the colour palette, but add variety where I could. So glad you like it.

This is again a real beauty, Thea. Your gallery is full of wonderful, perfectly painted, all different subjects. You can paint everything, it will always be stunning!

Very nice piece, Thea. I like the composition and the colour..

Superb Thea! You could publish a little book of Provençal watercolours. They areall excellent.

What a lovely vista. I think your repetition of colour gives a wonderfully harmonious feel to this painting. This has to be one of my favourites in your impressive gallery!

Very sweet indeed. If I had to make a suggestion Thea, perhaps I'd be a little more generous with shadows, both in the foreground and amongst the buildings. It would add depth.

Lovely composition Thea, great blend of colour. Just enough information here.

Another little treasure Thea. I love your style, your colours and your paintings ! :)

Thank you all so very much for all your comments and advice which are a wonderful bonus of being able to post work on the gallery. Without this input I would be struggling in the dark. Kim, I think you have spotted that I am a tad timid with shadows. They worry me because people generally use blues and purples to show shadows which to me offten jar. I try to use local colour, but just deeper. These don't often show as conventionally painted shadows. I do need to increase the intensity and I'm glad you picked up on that as I shall now give myself a slap on the wrist when painting and tell myself to be braver.

Thanks for your comment on my Indoor Garden Thea. I love your varied paintings. You have mastered the art of expressing your self ,oh so well, without over complicating the composition and colours.

I love you work,. especially the landscapes. so fresh, fluid and spontaneous. Well done.

Thank you very much Janet and Nicola for such lovely comments. Janet, it is always a struggle to stop before I start to fiddle and start putting in too much detail - a sharp smack on the wrist usually works!

About the Artist
Thea Cable

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
