I think this is a fantastic painting Thea, so much movement! The colours are great too and I am jealous of your very successful use of wet in wet. Just brilliant.

Thank you very much, Heather, for such a positive comment. This painting was one of those rare ones that just went how I wanted it to from start to finish. Lovely when that happens but sadly it seems to be as rare as hen's teeth (well for me it is!).

It is spot on Thea, the flying hooves and mud!, the colours and the atmosphere, are all here and it is the perfect rendition of a horse race, a change for you from your boats and buildings, everything you wanted to achieve is here and it is expertly done.

Thank you very much, Ros, for such a lovely comment.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my watercolour and pen Thea of my dog Rosie, I do like to make a good job of eyes and noses, thanks for picking up on that!

I feel as though I need to jump out of the way. They're galloping straight at me, at great speed !!!

Brilliant Thea it describes the scene so well!

What can I say except ' on top form'! love the bold primary colours of the jockey's silks and the way the whips echo the flying mud splatters as they romp home!

You have achieved that galloping movement so well. Ouch I have mud in my eye!!

I love this, Thea. It's full of movement and colour and looseness.

plenty action and vibrant colour. You have handled the feeling of movement very well. Not easy in watercolour.

Agree with all the above . Great atmosphere and movement.

I agree with the above comments, Thea. Lovely painting - lots of colour and lots of movement. And I love the title!

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by to have a look and left such lovely and generous feedback. I am laid up with a very bad back at the moment so sitting at my computer is difficult, so I apologise for the briefness of this acknowledgement.

Another beautiful watercolour Thea. full of movement and so well painted. Love it!

Always full of colour and energy, Thea. They look that they could jump right out of the paper.

High drama and action, super!

Morning Thea Ros P here thanks for your 'different' comment on my Rottweiller pastel, you always come up with a good one! cheers!

Such vitality ! Wonderful palette with your energetic style.....another winner!

Can't believe I missed this one - quite exceptional Thea

Sorry, I seem not to have acknowledged the last few comments. I do appreciate them very much and thank you to all who has added their thoughts, it is very kind of you. Such feedback is very helpful and does a lot to encourage me.

It is quite a while since I have had a go at race horses, although they are one of my favourite subjects. I love the bright colours, flying hooves and the excitement of the movement and hope that I have gone some way to portraying all this in my painting. Watercolour on Langton 200lbs. ( Blog 'A Watercolour Journey' - I am putting this note on a few postings not, I assure you, in an attempt to drag reluctant people to read my witterings, but to help those who have told me that they have been unable to find it.)

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
