I think this is just beautiful and it looks just as I know it. I would love to paint the Avon Causeway one day as I also think the cows look great in this location.

A lovely sensitive watercolour with lots of interesting details like the herd of cows filing down to drink from the river and the depth marker in the foreground linking it to the middle distance and the distant trees. A fresh, unfussy use of watercolour.

I find that I'm drawn again and again to this part of the landscape, as there is such a lot going on over the seasons. I pass this river usually once a week on my way to visit family. What I really want to be able to do is paint the cows in the watermeadows up to their chests in vegetation having their last browse, lit by the end of day sunshine. However, I haven't been able to stop when I've seen them like that, so I decided to paint this Summery scene, with the river making its way towards Christchurch and the sea. For a change, Most of the greens were mixed from blues and yellows, plus W&N Terre Verte and the yellow shade of the same. Still managed to slip the cows into the scene in the distance!
