This is my second proper portrait. It was inspired by Ian Sidaway's article, titled "Paint a Selfie" in the April 2019 edition of the Artist magazine. Although it isn't strictly a selfie, it is of my late friend, John in 2016 ( posted by permission of his wife). In my normal paintings I incorporate quite a bit of wet into wet, but I find that with portraits, mostly wet on dry gives me a style that I like.... I am a big fan of Ian Sidaway's painting method. A quite limited palette was used.
